Why is Penn state being punished?

Numerous University Officials were aware that Sandusky was molesting boys for years. The fact that it was not stopped then it makes those Officials and the University just as guilty as Sandusky himself.

It is sad for such a great College like Penn State to be permanently associated with such a tradgic line of events. However, I agree with the penalty and hope it sends a message to any institution where the same thing may be happening.
