Why did softball get taken out of the Olympics?

I think that softball should still be in the Olympics. does anyone else think so? If it was still there I would have a good chance at being in the Olympics. I played in a big regional tournament. anyone agree with me ~Lexi:)

Because people realized that softball was not getting enough views because of its lack of continuous intensity and a lack of a large amount of skill. Therefore, softball is not in the Olympics. Also maybe because not enough other countries play it... Not sure really

I think a certain number of countries have to have viable teams and there wasnt enough interest to field enough teams. People are trying to get it reinstated.

American's would dominate each time at the Olympics probably because Baseball and Softball are not very popular outside of North America and Asia, so it's very hard to generate interest in those sports in other countries.

I think because it doesn't get enough views or something, which makes me really mad because I would love to watch softball in the Olympics! And anyway, who would want to watch archery and canoeing but not softball?
