Yeah, I have to say that it's pretty common. Some tips to help you not be so scared of the dark is to keep a TV turned on low in your room if you have on, or have a little nightlight by your bed or wherever you please. You should have probably out growned that little phobia by age thirteen, so I would suggest running it by your parents--Maybe they could help you or give you some more needed advice. But remember, everyone gets paranoid!

Yea it's perfectly normal. You will eventually get over it. I'm turning 17 August 22 and I still get scared of the dark!! it's human nature. and anybody who says they're not scared of the dark or never was scared is lying. it's normal, don't sweat it.

I know adults that are afraid of the dark. In high school, I had a sleep over with a friend, and at 16, she was afraid of the dark. It's a phobia. You're not weird! I personally love my room to be like a dark cave, but sometimes late at night when I have to go downstairs in the dark to get something... I get the willies.. I'm 20.. it's ok!
It its perfectly normal i'm 16 and am still scared of the dark I even use my phone as a night light, cant sleep without it, and don't worry some people are afraid of stranger things too, like me i'm afraid of ants and get the heeby geebies whenever I see them.
Yeah it completely fine. I am sometimes spooked still and I am 13 now too. o.0.... My bro is like 11 and hes completely so scared to even have a shower alone at night. xD So yep its fine, everyone fears something. I fear rejection and failure. -_-
I'm not really scared of it, but I'm 14 and I sleep with my radio on and my lamp on, and my closet on.. I can sleep in the dark but I prefer to have sound (like my fan and radio) on with my light. Waking up and not being able to see my surroundings scares me shitless.
I'm thirteen and when i turn my the light off in the living room at night when i am alone downstairs i run to my stairs like there is hot lava flowing towards my feet lol so i think its pretty normal:)
