Why are high school bands popular in atlanta unlike other places?

High school bands are a bit more popular in Atlanta than in other places because Atlanta gives them a platform to express themselves. There is competition, and competition is good because it provides exposure. Other states and cities also have great bands, but perhaps they don't have the same mechanisms Atlanta bands have.
