Is there an instructional guide to oil painting, or is it just trial and error.

It's a pain in the but to use and conroll

There is no such thing as an instructional guide to painting; it is a matter of talent and, to some extent, learning. You might get a few pointers here and there, but you have to do everything by trial and error. See www.wikihow.com/Oil-Paint for some pointers.

No I don't know how to use oil paints. I sketch and paint with acrylic really well oil paints are a lot tougher and harder to control
