Do I need a lawyer if I just got a DUI? I'm not going to fight it. I know it's all my fault but should I still look into getting one?

by the way this is my first offense.

A friend of mine was charged with a DUI 2 yrs ago.As he sat in court ready to plead guilty he noticed that others with the same charge were pleading not guilty and had a lawyer. He ended up getting a lawyer and good thing because they ended up with 6 more counts ag.him. He ended up with one yr probation and had to attend AA.After the year all charges ag. Him were dropped.Get a lawyer!!

no point then, unless its pleadable no matter being your fault.

If you are the sort of person that does your own brain surgery or fill your own dental cavities than take care of this yourself. Otherwise get a lawyer. But then again you are the one who said "I'm fine and I can drive no problem".

I hear that you are owning your mistake, and that is good. On the other hand, it is a good idea to consult a lawyer, even if you are not planning on challenging the DUI. Why? To make sure that you are informed of all the future implications of having been found DUI, and make an informed decision on whether to challenge it or not.

If course you need a lawyer. However, as a driver who often has kids in the car I hope the court is not lenient.

If it's your first driving infraction because you were impaired by a controlled or alcoholic substance you are okay with a public defender et cetera. However, if this is your second offense of the same manor you will be looking at a felony charge, hence the definite need of an attorney so that they can help you get your charge back down to a misdemeanor and to keep you from doing any time behind bars.

Good luck, show remorse and be respectful when in court and you should be good to go.

Always get a lawyer. Can you really represent yourself in the Criminal Justice system? I think the answer is no. I would get one if I was in your situation.

Yes because they can usually lower costs that you might pay for certain court costs and give you extended time on paying them and time to take classes. (driving classes)
