Could it happen? Yes. Is it a safe way to go? No. Her best bet is to lose weight slowly and consistently through diet and exercise. There are some great programs out there like Weight Watchers that can help her to watch the calories and bring about weight loss. I lost 30 pounds using WW and didn't feel like I was missing out on any foods. The weight has stayed off. Losing 50 pounds in a month can be harmful. I don''t see her doing this in a month with the plan you have outlined. If she eats right, exercises and watches calories, she will lose and feel better. Rapidly losing, she likely will not feel all that great and will probably regain the weight in the future. With a realistic plan, she will have a better likelihood of success.

Taking it slow is your suggestion right? (: I am pretty sure I can help her with that because I understand after the 20 lbs it gets harder to lose the weight.

Yep I would take it slow. I have read that is usually the best way because you are making it a lifestyle instead of just trying to get the quick fix of the loss. She will see results each week which is pretty encouraging. At some point her loss will plateau, but with you in her court she can succeed. Best of luck to you both!

No way...it's very bad to lose that much weight in that little of time...she needs to walk, diet and do some muscle building because lean muscle burns more fat....the most efficient and healthy way to lose weight is 3 lbs per 2 weeks! Otherwise she will most likely gain it all back and them some!!

For every 3000 calories burned, 1 pound is lost. With that in mind, do the math and you can figure out what she would need to do to lose that 50 pounds in 1 month. Keep in mind, she will still have to eat.

She would have to lose 150,000 calories to lose 50 pounds eating off veggies though ? And drinking and cutting back all junk food?

Not just cutting back on junk food, cutting it completely out! Eat lots of proteins and veggies. Take vitamins. But, to loose that amount of weight in that short of time is very unhealthy and dangerous.

Cutting down food will help if she eats WAY too much food. If she eats a regular portion DO NOT lessen the amount. It is completely unhealthy for her body and she can become anorexic. Losing that much weight in such short time is very difficult. Make sure you are her support system, and encourage her! Have her exercise daily (but dont have her overdo it). Really watch what she puts into her body. No really sugary, salty, fatty food. Stay away from fast-food. Try cooking at home. You can look up some healthy recipes online. Have her eat salads, fruit, vegetables, light pasta (no cream sauce instead marinara, red sauce) also stay away from big heavy desserts. A small occasional sweet is fine. You have to encourage and support her to your best ability!!!! Goodluck! :)
