If god created homosexuals, why does it say in the bible that it's okay to kill them?

The Bible is wrong on a LOT of things. Im not sure if it says to kill them, but if it does, something is wrong somewhere, its OK to be Gay. Everyone should be treated equally.

@lexi You don't know if it's wrong or right, nobody does, so calm down. If she thinks it's wrong, she has the right to believe so.

This is just what I believe. My main problem with the Bible is the story of how the Earth was created, which is places humans at the begging of time, which to me is almost impossible due to were human fossils show up in the fossil records, but Im not going to get into that here.
Report as
If you believe otherwise, then thats ok. Like I said, I just believe everyone should be treated equal, and no one should be repressed based on what a book says, compared to their sexuality.
Report as
Well, thats why I think religion should be kept out of government, and laws. I don't think people should be made to forget their religion, but I mean, keep it to your self, don't go criticizing others for thinking different.

It's not natural.the way they have sex is not natural.you don't need the bible to see that!
Report as
annaruby
@jehu If that's your only excuse to hate homosexuality then you've got no argument. Straight couples have anal & oral sex all the time, just as gay couples do. Not to mention you can't dislike something simply for being "unnatural." We do plenty of unnatural things each day, yet you're not against those, are you? DYING is natural, medical treatment is unnatural. Are you against medical treatment for the dying (such as chemotherapy)? If not, you're a total hypocrite.
Report as
Its not unnatural. Homosexuality, and homosexual acts have been observed in many other species besides humans (It happens often in the animal world). Its a thing we can't deny. The truth is, homosexuality is real, and the governments of the world just trying to hide it, or make laws against it doesn't make it go away, its still there, and its still a big part of society today.
Report as
Svetslana, you speak the truth that is obvious and so your eyes must be clear of many illusions.
Report as
There are no signs of homosexuality in animals! If you're gonna keep listening to those deranged and payed scientists you're not gonna get far in life. The Bible has been proven accurate tons of times but nobody wants to make it official and world wide. The world hates it cuz the world belongs to Satan. Don't listen to the media and evolutionists and stuff; they're all a bunch of liars. They ignore the fact that the Bible is a proven fact both scientifically and theoretically.
Report as
Thats your deranged opinion @Roman, but thats all it is, is an opinion. There is no proven evidence that every single thing in the Bible is fact, just like I can't say that its a fact that God doesn't exist. But, we can have opinions. And, my opinion is just very different from yours. Oh, also, homosexuality has been observed in many species of animals, it has been documented that homosexual behavior has been observed in close to 1,500 species, including primates gut worms, giraffes, swans, penguins, dogs, cats, dolphins, and even bison's. Its not a rare thing that only happens in the human world. I suggest you conduct more research, and not just from the Bible.
Report as
@lexi The Bible isnt wrong. It's the interpretations of the Bible that are wrong.

You're answers are very considered and accurate. Kudos.
To the people that think the bible is it... Do you really think a god that says you can have a slave and beat him, if he gets up after a couple of days then, well, that's all right. It's in the bible and it is offensive. Incest is in the bible. Rape is . Giving your daughter to be gang raped to death is seen as a commendable action. You have to believe in the goodness of these examples to follow the bible. Otherwise you go against god. If you struggle with these examples morally, then the morals YOU have conflict with gods. Which means you have morals whether you read the bible or not.

Your daughter gang raped, fine ....

Well, at least she's not gay.

Don't confuse what the Bible says .. with an interpretation of what the Bible says.

Report as
annaruby
What? It does say somewhere that anyone caught doing a homosexual act should be put to death.
Report as
At least that is how it was interpreted.
Report as
There has been many times iin history where the interpretation of the bible has been manipulated. I believe during the reign of King Henry, it was manipulated to suit the needs of the King.
Report as
annaruby
It was not an interpretation, it literally says:
Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"
I'm not sure if there's any other way to put it.
Report as
No no no .. you don't understand .. The bible was not originally written in English .. It was written in Hebrew. The translation and interpretation was transferred from Hebrew to English .. THAT's what I mean about interpretation.

The Christian Bible has many versions .. that's why there are so many versions. The transferrance in interpretation from Hebrew to English.
Report as
annaruby
The word for that is TRANSLATION, not interpretation! Okay, I understand what you are saying now. But how do you know there was a mistranslation?
Report as
Well actually it is both .. They take the orginal words (in Hebrew) .. interpret the meaning and then try to put that interpretation into English words. Sometimes just the mere practice of translating loses the originator's meaning.

It's still primarily a matter of interpretation.
Report as
A lot of our comprehension of the English language is pivitol on emphasis of a word or words in a sentence. Like for instance .. I could say .. I WONDER if the sun will shine tomorrow. OR I could say .. "I" wonder if the sun will shine tomorrow .. OR I could say .. I wonder if THE sun will shine tomorrow .. OR I could say .. I wonder if the sun will SHINE tomorrow .. you see what I mean. The emphasis on each word of a sentence can change the entire meaning completely. Without the captitalized words .. the mean of the sentence would depend on a person's interpretation, THAT 's where the meaning of an intended thought can be lost or completely missed when translated from written word in one language to another.
Report as
We don't KNOW what the intended thoughts or meanings of the original scriptures .. we can only trust that they are accurate. Wars have been fought over this principal. All we can do is choose which version we want to believe in...and pray that we are being given accurate information .. our religious convictions count on it.
Report as
That should have said .. We don't KNOW that the intended thoughts or meanings of the orginial scriptures have been interpretated and translated correctly .. we can only trust and have faith that they are accurate.
Report as
annaruby
Oh, okay. If that is so, and one has complete faith in the bible (regardless of what you said) wouldn't that mean that they DO believe the bible INTENDED to say gay people should be put to death? And then if you don't have complete faith (due to what you just said ^^) how would they KNOW homosexuality is even a sin in the first place? Or if anything in the Bible was translated & interpreted correctly?
.
So what I'm trying to say is, christians who are against homosexuality (solely because of what the Bible says about it) also would have to agree that the writers of the Bible DID think homosexuals should be put to death.
.
What I mean is, I do not think it would be right for a christian to hang on every word the bible says about homosexuality, but if it's something that goes against basic morals (such as the killing of someone only because they're gay) then they excuse that with "well the Bible's been translated so many times, I'm sure THAT was just a fluke!" That would be very hypocritical, in my opinion.
Report as
There are contradictory 'instructions' .. if taken out of context. One instruction .. a very important one .. is "Thou shall not kill" .. but then there is other text's (Lev. 20:1), about killing homosexuals ..

So which is it going to be? Who chooses which is the one we follow? .. This is from the SAME book .. a King James Version of the Bible .. There are many version of the bible which mention the same text.

Once again this inspires an argument of 'interpretation' .. the difference of what is said literally and figuratively.
Report as
annaruby
Okay.

?For they changed the truth of God into a lie, and they worshiped and served the created thing more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this cause, God gave them up to dishonorable affections. For even their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature.
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another; males with males working out shamefulness, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error.
And even as they did not think fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do the things not right, being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; being full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, evil habits, becoming whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, insolent, proud, braggarts, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, perfidious, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous order of God, that those practicing such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but have pleasure in those practicing them.? Report as
The Old Testament was the Law that was from Moses and other prophets to set mere examples to the Hebrews. Jesus changed that. Now he says "to love our enemies.." back then God said "destroy them..."
They stoned people if they were caught in adultery. But Jesus said "who is without sin, may he throw the first stone..."
In the New Testament, Paul was talking about death as in hell. Death of their souls and minds to the truth. That's why they say, "we died in sin, but came back to life in Christ."

Report as

Are you saying God was WRONG? I'm surprised to hear that, since it goes against the christian belief entirely
Report as
Then you don't know Christianity...
God never changed his mind. See this is the reason y'all ask these questions; y'all don't read or understand the Word correctly. Stop trying to find "the bad side" of things. Jesus gave us a new covenant which changed the older one cuz the older one was prophesying His coming. It was readying the path for him. Thus God said to kill those who were idol worshippers and who sacrificed their children. God tried and kept His people pure from immorality by setting such strict rules.

The verse you mentioned from Leviticus is the one I've heard before.
I just can't get the idea out of my head that being gay is not a choice. My wife Strongly disagrees. I think if you are gay and remain celibate , for example, you are still gay. If you are heterosexual and remain celibate you are still heterosexual. So it's not a sin until if you are gay you have sex with same sex if you take what Bible says.
Did I make any sense?

So let's punish them for acting in the manner god created them?

Report as

@celebrity That you are wrong. I believe that being a homosexual means that you have an attraction for the same sex; has nothing to do with the act itself. Homosexual acts are a sin, but I do not think the attraction is. Of course it isn't a choice. Did you chose to be heterosexual? (as in, did you ever chose to be attracted to your wife? Did you make the conscious decision, or did it automatically just HAPPEN?)
Report as
if it not a sin to act on our attraction why is it wrong for them to act on their attraction
Report as
annaruby
The Bible says a man and woman may act on their attraction once they're married. Most people say it's a sin because it's "unnatural" (which really makes no sense) or because sex is SOLELY for reproduction, apparently (which also makes no sense, because by that logic, you should also be against birth control and condoms, which most people are not against)
Report as
To annaruby: I think from your response to my above comment that I didn't speak clearly . I don't think it is a choice. I believe that something happens at some point in development of the human body that causes ones proclivity to hetero or homo sexuality. I'm afraid my explanations get a little convoluted at times .
Report as
annaruby
I am a little confused. Because you did say you CAN'T wrap your head around the idea that is NOT a choice, which is like saying you CAN wrap your head around the idea of it being a choice, which would mean you DO believe it is a choice. Did you not mean to say that? & I'm not really sure what you're saying here. Are you saying it's not a choice, and that a person develops their sexuality, like as a baby, or in the womb, or as an adult?
Report as
To annaruby: too many double negatives. I do not believe it is a choice. I can't speak for others , but for myself even before puberty I liked girls . I hope I'm not sounding perverse here. I'm making a conclusion that most of us are the same in that respect . If so there was no confusion or decision involved in being heterosexual, so wouldn't it seem logical that for homosexuals it was the same? In contrast my wife thinks it's a decision and takes the born again Christian or Christian Bible
(what ever we call it) viewpoint.
Report as
annaruby
Oh okay, yeah lol darn those confusing double negatives! I completely agree. And that's normal & you're not sounding perverse; my friends and I had crushes on boys in 1st grade hah. Definitely! It's common sense to assume that if heterosexuals never made the choice, that niether did gays. Not to mention that many gays fight the attraction, but still are unable to.

I do not think you are born a murderer; really, it depends. Some people are born insane and/or evil, but most of the time, insanity is developed. Same for thieves and rapists (they would probably have a messed up upbringing, which is what made them crazy) Homosexuals do not choose to be attracted to their same gender, they just are. It's impossible to be attracted to someone you simply aren't attracted two; that completely contradicts itself!! Although homosexuals DO decide to act on their attractions, I don't think they should be punished for it. If straight people aren't, neither should gay people.
Report as
God tests us and challenges us. If someone feels an attraction that is an abomination, say pedophilia, one has no excuse to still act on it. It would be poor defense to say it's not my fault, I was born with attraction to young girls/boys etc. So even if homosexuality is a born trait, and many doubt that, it's still no excuse to act on it. Now, personally I don't care who consenting adults sleep with. But evidently God does.
Report as

The New Testament does not provide any physical punishment for homosexual acts. Although it is a sin to commit such acts, the only punishment will come after the final judgement, when all sinners will be separated from God and heaven. The Law of Moses was to the Jewish nation, and was laws for that nation. As such, the nation had the power to punish those who broke that law, in this case by stoning. The kingdom of Jesus, the church, is a spiritual kingdom rather than a physical one. That kingdom, then, would not have the right to impose physical penalties on its members. Even if it had that right, it would only have the jurisdiction over those who are in the kingdom. Since those who commit homosexual acts cannot be part of the kingdom (1 Corinthians 6:9-11), the kingdom has no authority to punish them. Those who are in the church who commit such acts are forgiven, and so no punishment accrues to them. Nobody, then, has the authority to stone those who commit homosexual acts today.

The god of the bible has been a poor administrator & an inept creator all through his history. He relentlessly failed to right his creation. But whenever he failed to do his duty he tried to overcome his limitations by murdering his creation indiscriminately! Just as you described that he condemned & excommunicated the homosexuals for the very crime that he clearly had caused! The same reason why this same god created millions of people & murdered them by drowning all at once in a flood!!

O GOD of my praise! Keep not silence, For the mouths of the wicked and the mouth of deceit are
opened against me; they have spoken to me and against me with
lying tongues. They have compassed me about also with words of hatred and
have fought against me without a cause. In return for my love they are my adversaries, but I resort to
prayer. And they have rewarded and laid upon me
evil for good, and hatred for my love. Set a wicked man over him [as a judge], and let [a malicious]
accuser stand at his right hand. When [the wicked] is judged, let him be condemned, and let his
prayer [for leniency] be turned into a sin. Let his days be few; and let another take his office and charge. Because the man did not [earnestly] remember to show mercy,
but pursued and persecuted the poor and needy man, and the
broken in heart [he was ready] to slay. Let this be the reward of my adversaries from the Lord, and
of those who speak evil against my life. But You deal with me and act for me, O
God the Lord, for Your name?s sake; because Your mercy and
loving-kindness are good, O deliver me. I will give great praise and thanks to
the Lord with my mouth; yes, and I will praise Him among the
multitude. For He will stand at the right hand of the poor and needy, to save him from those who condemn his
life. (Psalm 109:1-8, 16, 20, 21, 30, 31 AMP)

This is one of the Psalms of Imprecation. You say an imprecation when you ask God for something bad to happen to your enemies.
These things are written for our learning, not for our imitation.

Can there be anything for infamous than this psalm in the entire literature of mankind? I believe the people who try to defend this psalm as inspired words of god ought re-evaluate their ethical & moral code of conduct!!

Psalm boy: I don't know if u intentionally left the horrible word or if u didn't know! But let me clarify
with having doubted that God was the author of the 109th Psalm. The portion of that psalm which carries with it the clearest & most satisfactory evidences of inspiration, and which has afforded almost unspeakable consolation to the Presbyterian Church, is as follows:
"Set thou a wicked man over him; and let Satan stand at his right hand.
When he shall be judged, let him be condemned; and let his prayer become sin.
Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
Let his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.
Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg; let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the stranger spoil his labor.
Let there be none to extend mercy unto him; neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children.
Let his posterity be cut off: and in the generation following let there name be blotted out.
But do thou for me, O God the Lord, for Thy name's sake; because; Thy mercy is good, deliver Thou me. I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth.

Think of a God wicked and malicious enough to inspire this prayer. Think of one infamous enough to answer it.
Had this inspired psalm been found in some temple erected for the worship of snakes, or in the possession of some cannibal king, written with blood upon the dried skins of babes, there would have been a perfect harmony between its surroundings and its sentiments.

Commentary Excerpt Psalm 109
---------------------------------------
Imprecations. -- I cannot forbear the following little incident that occurred the other morning at family worship.
-----------------------------------------
I happened to be reading one of the imprecatory psalms, and as I paused to remark, my little boy, a lad of ten years, asked with some earnestness:
-----------------------------------------
"Father, do you think it right for a good man to pray for the destruction of his enemies like that?" and at the same time referred me to Christ as praying for his enemies.
----------------------------------------
I paused a moment to know how to shape the reply so as to fully meet and satisfy his enquiry, and then said,
-----------------------------------------
"My son, if an assassin should enter the house by night, and murder your mother, and then escape, and the sheriff and citizens were all out in pursuit, trying to catch him, would you not pray to God that they might succeed and arrest him, and that he might be brought to justice?" "
-------------------------------------------
Oh, yes!" said he, "but I never saw it so before. I did not know that that was the meaning of these Psalms." "Yes", said I, "my son, the men against whom David plays were bloody men,
-----------------------------------------
men of falsehood and crime, enemies to the peace of society, seeking his own life, and unless they were arrested and their wicked devices defeated, many innocent persons must suffer."
------------------------------------------
The explanation perfectly satisfied his mind. --F.G. Hibbard

That explanation would take away the "love thy enemy" teaching; wouldn't it? And even by human standard to pray for the misery to befall on the innocent children of my mother's killer wouldn't satisfy a moral man. That simply is a savage morality. Wouldn't you agree?

Just so you understand what I meant, I'll quote the following from the same psalm for your further consideration before you try to rationalize it:
".......Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg; let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the stranger spoil his labor.
Let there be none to extend mercy unto him; neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children."

God did not create homosexuals, they made that choice on their own but to be exact it is not really a choice. It's Adam and Eve... Not Adam and Steve

I agree with that. I am extremely glad that as a boy and then as a man I have always been attracted to women and not to men (in a sexual desire nature). I hope my wife doesn't read this and get on my case.
Report as
I wanted to add that I don't recall thinking there was a choice. Did you really think for you there was any question as far as desire goes, or for other people that you know.

Are you gay? How would you know whether somebody made the choice or not? Nobody can decide who they are and are not attracted to; it's impossible. And there'd be no point. Did you ever make the conscious decision to be straight, or to be attracted to anyone, for that matter? An attraction is natural and something you cannot change. It is a choice to act on that attraction, though. God made Adam & Eve not Steve, WE KNOW. That's the oldest, stupidest, overused joke and it makes no point. If you really have a brain, think up your own argument instedda copying and pasting the lamest thing I have ever heard. Try REAL hard to think up a good argument.

Gabgirl: did u know that it's been scientifically proven that in many cases homosexuals are not thus by their choice but by natural instinct? Doesn't that mean that they were made & born with such sexual orientations? Don't you, then, believe that god made them so?

You need to check your info (I know I do sometimes, too) but please consider this:
Did you choose to be straight or were you born that way?

I might be guessing but I bet you go to church and I bet your folks do to and you have inherited their beliefs without constructing and evaluating your own. What an assumption eh?
Is it true???
The greatest thing we all can do is to question.
Question what our parents tell us.
Question what the teachers tell us.
Question politicians.
Question whoever throws an opinion at you.
I remember when I was a kid I was told that nelson Mandela was a terrorist. Years later I thought about it and was horrified that that was the accepted opinion. Question what people tell you. It is very important

I didn't think I would have to answer such foolish questions, but ok. I see humanity is getting dumber :P
God hates the idea, not the person. He never ever said that it's ok to kill anyone. You know what the Bible says. Stop scrutinizing the Word of God. This is making you look like an idiot.
I'm sorry, I'm allergic to stupidity.

How would you know whether I own a Bible or not, or if I've read it? You should not assume things about people who have only said a few words to you.

I don't assume. I guess by the contain of the author. You might have one or even read it all. You just didn't get the whole picture. Everything in the Bible is connected, did you know that? It's like a novel, all the the drama and suspense leads to a beautiful ending.

Roman: What an absurd wishful thinking!! You are even more deluded than you express to be! People are idiots all right, but only in the sense that they tolerate your mind numbing idiocy & for nothing else. You would be horrified, I'm sure, if uever endeavored to weigh the sheer incapacity of your own brain!! However, read the following from the very bible that you claimed to own:

"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives."
(Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

So what are we learning? Those who deny what God says about homosexuality will be punished by their peers? Or the real answer: God who is the final judge in such matters, will punish? God Almighty is the ultimate judge not man.

First of all, God didn't create homosexuals. Homosexuality is usually a mental disorder caused by an absent parent. Secondly, the Old Testament said to kill them. The New Testament says to love them but hate the sin. Don't kill them, but try to lead them in another direction with the love of Christ.

Hope this helps - Zack

Do you even personally know any gay people? Have you asked them when they CHOSE to be gay? Did you ask your straight family and friends when they chose to be straight? My dad is gay, my uncle is, I have other family members as well who are. They knew as kids they were not attracted to the opposite sex. I truly believe you are born with your sexual preference. I also believe that scientific studies will in time, prove that. For now I take the word of the people I love and live amongst. Most of them are very active in the church, my dad is a former minister. I am appalled that in the 21st century people still think gays are mentally ill or worthy of Gods ultimate punishment straight from the Old Testament.

@neighborlady I AGREE!
@godordirt Animals have gay sex. Now some christians like to think that people are pretending to be gay for some silly reason. Now, how do you explain gay animals? It's not like they do it for pleasure; it's instinct, or nature. Animals don't decide to do it, they just do. Humans don't decide to be attracted to the same or different gender, they just are. And humans do things daily that are unnatural, yet they aren't committing a sin. For example, the curing of diseases is unnatural. Cancer is natural, yet is it sinful to cure it, in your opinion? If one cured cancer, would you find it immoral for being unnatural? Point is, gay sex being "unnatural" doesn't prove anything- unless you believe EVERYTHING unnatural is immoral. Plus, straight couples have oral & anal sex also. And even though gays can't reproduce, you and I both know that is not the only purpose for sex. If it were, bc, condoms, vasectomies, etc should be illegal, also (not to mention how unnatural all of those are!) AND the marriage of infertile women should be illegal also, since she won't be "fruitful and multiply."

@dirt: are not the ten commandments from the OT? Why do u believe them?

GodordirtZack
neighborlady and annaruby, I do personally know a few homosexuals. I also happen to know that they were not born gay. I also happen to know that one of their parents were absent, dead, or didn't give them any attention growing up. Science has proven that it is not normal to be gay, and because I believe the Bible I find it immoral. I only said that it wasn't natural because I did not assume that either of you believe the Bible. The only thing I can say about animals having gay sex is that animals have no moral, therefore nothing to them is immoral. So, are you trying to justify homosexuality with evolution? It would also be very consistent with the events in Genesis 3 - called corruption on the earth - sin.

pious666, Of course the Ten Commandments are from the Old Testament, so why should that mean I shouldn't believe them? Some laws change, like the law to kill men who sleep with other men, or women who sleep with other women. That law change from "kill them" to "love the sinner, but hate the sin." The ten commandments, however, didn't change. They are all over the New Testament, Jesus talked about them, Paul, talked about them, they are still the same, and still apply.

I can't stand these horrible religious opinions.

I really have to bite my lip every time I read an ignorant comment by a bible sicko. Gay people are a result of a single parent. For crying out loud. This is not good enough !

flyingFish, of course it's not the only thing. It could be the result of peer pressure, it could be a choice because everyone said it's O.K. It could be many things, but an absent parent is what it is many times.

WHen the Bible refers to "death" to those who engage in such behavior, it doesn't refer to LITERAL death, but He will banish those from Heaven, and will not allow entrance to those in Heaven.
1 Corinthians 6:9- Or do you not know that the unrighteous[a] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality
