Folktales are stories told down from generation to generation. Myths are things like the Lochness Monster and Bigfoot.

folktales are like traditional stories about customs and stuff. myths are more stories to explain a natural phenomenon, or about a religion, or gods and heroes. sorry, i'm not very good at explaining.
