What would cause a clanking when my car goes over almost any bump?

replaced rack&pinion and driving rotors.

Loose wheel bearings, U-joints, and even the shock absorbers can cause clanking when a car goes over any bump. Loose car body can also make the same noise when going over a bump. You should take the car to a mechanic to be checked out.

Most likely your shocks are hitting your car. Try going a little slower over bumps or replace your shocks altogether.
