because god tells you in the bible and if you were a christian you would know that but i do understand your questioning so if you can try to find the closest church near you and start learning more you wont have as much questions
We are brought up in a western society with a myriad of stories and fairy tales over centuries in Europe. It was a normal aspect of any story-telling to embellish any story over time. We apply this rationale when we consider your question. Fact is the Bible was written over 1500 years by 40 authors. It is more of a historical account than any form of story, although written in such a style. This has been backed up by multiple historians through time including Josephus and Eusebius (which would have both given account either at the time the Bible was still being written or soon after). No other publication in history has come under the scrutiny the Bible has and so, the most verified, even if it starts roughly 4000 years ago. Great question though- That's my brief answer.
The better question is how it was made up. Whether or not Luke's gospel is actual, chronological history is not even a question in the academic community. We know it was made up, as Luke tells us he has reordered the events in his prologue. So the question becomes how does his reordering give us insight to his overall message.
Whiteboyjosh-You can't get an educated answer to a question about the Bible from people who never read nor believe in the Bible. At least 1/3 of the Bible deals with prophesy and you will have to study the Bible and its prophecy's to see if it's true. Heres a couple of things to start with,Ancient Israel was driven out of their homeland because of sin 2000 years ago, but God promised to give the land back in the last days. In 1948 Israel became a nation again for the first time in 2000 years, Bible study is one of the most rewarding things you can do, theres plenty of small groups who study on a weekly basis, dont take anyones word for it, just do it and have some fun.
If you are asking was it written as fiction or non-fiction, it's always carried in the NON-fiction section of the library and bookstores. Considering its best-selling status (outsells most best sellers every year), at least a couple people think it's not fiction.
It was written by a number of men well after any of the facts it purports to have. It has been edited, re-edited, translated and re-translated according to various peoples beliefs and what was politically correct. It contradicts itself in many places and has impossibilities happening on a regular basis. I think it's like aesops fables.. Something to learn from but not necessarily believe in absolutely.
You have to take each book in the bible on its own. Some off the information is historic fact (some place's,event's, people etc..) and the wisdom of some of the teaching is good, just and helpful information to carry with you in your life. The problem arises when fantastic stories such as Noah's Ark taken literally and in its entirety, they are obvious interpretations of oral histories that once explained Tsunami events or the collapse of the Black sea land bridge after the end of the last ice age. So to say the bible is made up in a sense is true, however it contains good moral information, just be sure to have the wisdom to take the good from the fiction.
The Bible is quite different from any other world religions book because it has been written over a period of 1,600 years by over 40 different authors! Could you imagine asking 40 people to write a book about God? What do you suppose that God would look like? The answer I believe is this - you would get 40 different gods, because they have their origins in 40 different authors who have had to dream up the god that they are writing about. This is evidence that the Bible is authentic as the Word of God. Why? Well you have to remember that the Bible has over 40 authors, most of whom lived at different times in history, from different social backgrounds and circumstances, yet all have written consistently about the character, nature and plans of God. jesus loves you :) and thats not made up. a man who historically died for no crime! he didnt die becuase he broke a law, he died because it is what was supposed to happen! and thats historical as well as biblical :) and just so you know God sees you as a lot more than trash he loves you even when it feels like no one does
All it takes for u to know that bible is made up is to read it with the same unbiase as u read any other book. Bible poisoned the fountains of learning and misdirected the energies of man. They are words to give power to the priest, the church and the religion. They are words made up to destroy reason & to make the human mind a slave.
I know Bible is made up because it tells us God is a murderer; that God killed, or caused to be killed, millions of innocent people. That God ordered, or approved of, the murder of civilians, of little children, of helpless old people, defenseless & pregnant women, prisoners of war, & even livestock. It tells us that God approved the instructions to soldiers to keep the virgins for themselves. I detest and deny such a book, that says such is the nature of God. The Bible slanders God, and therefore the Bible can't be the words from God but made up by the words of men -- of cruel, mean, heartless, small minded men.
True to their Bible the church slaughtered men, women and children whenever they could. Today history tells us one truth; that those who have murdered will also lie! And the bible is the byproduct of those made up lies.
The Bible is not made up. A lot of stuff written more than 2,000 years ago is happpening right now! Also Faith makes it real. The Bible, once you ask for good judgment and start reading it, it speaks to you :)
Read about history, then you'll know that the bible is a collection of works by many authors, brought together by clerics of church. They, humans, decided what to include and what to reject in line with church doctrines, which they also decided on. It is absolutely 'made up' just like any other book ever written.
You have to pay attention to details in the Bible. If you do this, you will realize that the Bible is very authentic. The sixty-six books in the Bible were written over the course of thousands of years. Prophecies were made in many of these books that came true, exactly how they were written, hundreds, even thousands of years later, like the prophecy about Israel being scattered as a nation then being reunited. This reuniting would be unexpected, a phenomenon. In 1948 this prophecy came true. Israel wasn't a nation for hundreds of years. But in that year they were reunited, and everyone agreed that it was a political phenomenon. There are also over 300 prophecies made about the Messiah. Every one of these came true, hundreds of years later, during the course of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. The chances of this happening is like filling Texas three feet deep with quarters, painting one red, and sending a blind man in to get the red quarter. Too unlikely to consider, yet they all happened exactly as they were written. Even archaeology has proven much of Israel's history. I find the Bible to be very authentic.
Reading the bible is like reading today's newspaper! 2 Timothy 3:1-5 said that in the last days (the times in which we live) there would be the behaviors in individuals as we see today. Jesus said at Matthew 24:3-14 the conditions that would exist in today's society. Man can't even predict the weather right! If it was from man...how would he be able to predict the times in which we live so precisely?! It is definitely from God!
Too much of the information in the Bible is factual. Even if you are not a Christian there is so much that has been foretold and prophesied that one would have to really think and meditate on what the scriptures are saying:
1. Take note of Job 26:7 - the earth is round hanging on nothing 2. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 - outlines the traits that would be prevalent during the last days 3. Nation against Nation, Kingdom again Kingdom, earthquakes, food shortages - all predicted in the "Bible" - how true - Matthew 24:6-14 4. Revelation 11:18 - Man ruining the earth - is it not true and yes - AlmighAlmightyill bring to a ruin those ruining the earth.
Any topic of concern from financial matters to how to have successful relationships can all be found in the Bible.
