Catholicism is a section of Christianity, and the oldest form of it. Every other form comes from Catholicism (prodisentism (I know I spelled that wrong), and the Eastern Orthodox Church). The main difference is how each interprets the Bible, and who heads the Church.
I agree with the above^^ The difference between Catholicism and Evangelical is Catholics think you have to confess and practically work your way to heaven. There are a lot of things and prayers you have to do to get to heaven. Evangelical Christians believe in what the Bible says that only by faith in Jesus are you saved and are heaven bound. You will still sin and mess up in your life every day but nothing will shake your salvation. Personally I believe in the latter.
