Ummmm....ur answer is in your question. U ask: which is being modified by the adverb-adjective, adverb, or verb, right? An adverb IS a word that describes a verb. Always! An adjective describes a noun, so it's impossible for it to be modified by an adverb. And an adverb can't describe itself. A modifier can't be modified by a modifier, doesn't make sense.

I'm really not meaning to be offensive, just trying to make a point.... I did come across a bit arrogant, sorry for that
Report as
its ok
Report as
it wasn't the arrogance you think you had, it was just that the answer wasn't in the question after all.
Report as
Arrogance means basically thinking you know it all when you don't, right? So I was being arrogant....

But I just meant that they put which is the ad-VERB modifying- adjective, adverb, or VERB. That's how I always remembered the diff b/n an adverb and adjective- you cant spell adverb w/o verb...
Report as
An adverb can modify an verb, adjective, or verb. For instance, in the sentence We met only recently---only modifies recently. Only is an adverb modifying another adverb--recently. Met when? Recently. How recently? Only.

He RAN swiftly... ran is the verb, and swiftly modifies the verb.

Just what I was going to say, but the answer is verb. It only asks what the modifier modifies.
Report as
The exercise already stated that the underlined word is an adverb.

Btw, isn't that what I said?
