why do people put down animals please dont answer unless you read the details

i know thats its to put the animal out of its misery but we dont put down people when they're suffering from an illness or when they're homeless so why do we do it to animals

i had to put my dog down :( he was too old and the had a very hard time walking. it was so sad :( but then again, he would have lived in pain

im soirry for your loss i understand it when they are in terrible pain i just dont understand it when they come to your house or business lonely and homeless and then they get put down

That's understandable I'd do the same for my dog after lots of thinking. I couldn't watch my Sadie girl suffer

I just had to put down a puppy it was so sick there was no saving it so to spare it pane I had to it was so sad I love my dogs but some times it just has to be done for there sake

Because the people who run the goverment/ homeless dog shelter have no heart....

Well I was forced to put my two pitbulls down. It was terrible I miss them SOO bad.

oww i feel so bad for you i have two pitbulls and if anyone ever came to get them just to kill them either rhey would have to kill me first or I would be in Jail

People tend to value human life more than animal life. Im not saying that it's right, but that's how most people see it.

Our minds are the most powerfull brains on earth.... And animals can't be like us because we learned how to use/ make tools and shelter but we have evolved up to a technology age but animals are still at the hunter gatherer age :(

It breaks my heart. I have no clue other than they have no heart like stated above. I have rescued all my animals and I love them so much!!! Rescues are the best. It's just so sad knowing they're killing them for no reason;(

Yes, Doctors will ""Put down"" a human if he/she is suffering. & They do this to animals because they have overpopulated where we live, & there is not enough room in animal shelters to keep all of these unwanted animals. They also ""Put down"" Animals because they are too aggressive to adopt or deal with. Dont get me wrong, I love animals. I own quite a few! Hope this helped. :)

Doctors don't "put down" people unless they want to go to jail. Assisted suicide is illegal in most places in the US

It's because we as humans feel dominant over all other species and the majority of ppl that own pets or foster them don't think it matters as much.

Actually there are a lot of states that allow assisted suicide when people are terminally ill to put them out of their misery.

I had a cat that got ran over by a car and fractured his back and he couldn't walk and couldn't afford to take him to the doctor. The cat was is very bad condition and it seemed cruel to keep him alive. I wanted to cry every time i looked at him because he had to drag himself across the floor with his two front paws. My dad refused to put him down and a few months later his back healed up on its own and he can walk now. Im glad we didn't put him down but we were close to doing it.

Happy ending yay!!!!!! That happened once with one of my kitties. His hind leg got tore up and hurt his back too:( my dad cleaned it up each night and kept it wrapped and made a brace for leg and back. It lived too. We named him skippy cause he always funny ever since he got better:)

sometimes people know the animal is going to die anyways and just help speed things along so the animal doesn't have to suffer much longer

we call ours slinky now because when he starts running his front legs go faster than his back legs and he looks like a slinky toy haha. sad but we love him

Very true. I'd rather see them set free as a stray. I would throw them all the door. I'd be fired but then again I could never take a job like that.

Well, apparently we do not have room for animals to accommodate them. People don't spay/neuter their pets. They multiply like crazy. We try to save them because franky we've domesticated them to the point where they can't live without us. But organizations like the Humane Society and pounds put down the animals since there is no room for them. And people have tried putting down humans before but it was seen as inhumane and wrong by the government so there is a law banning the euthanasia of humans. Because they say human lives are more important than any other animal on the planet

God gave man the responsibility to take care of the earth and all the animals. we are there for over all animals not on the same level. We are not born wild beast. We have a sence of right and wrong animals don't.

Sometimes it's is worse to see an animal suffer. It would be selfish of us to keep them alive when they are hurting so bad. So we help the animal. Animals don't have soles like humans do. we can get saved from our sins. So we give that man or woman every chance we can to make sure there they know where there going.

Ask the heartless jerks that enforced that! I am a very patient person but when it comes to the well being of an animal i have a very short fuse.

The city puts down animals because stupid people keep breeding animals and the is no more space in shelters a female dog and a male dog can produce over 4,372 puppy's in just 7 years this is worse for cats. And then we have stupid breeders who continue to breed when there is already to many animals in the world I dont want to say I am for it but I do understand why

We put down our 20 year old dog who had no control over his bowels and bladder but only after checking with the vet pretty frequently--as soon as he started being in too much pain. There was no hope for him. It was horrible but I'd do it again if I had a pet who couldn't be helped to have less pain and some sort of life he was enjoying. You can sign an advance directive (living will) to give directions for health care crises when you are not able to communicate.
