Can my children choose to not go to their dads on his weekend? They are 13 ,15 and they love him but would like the ability to choose

they want to see their dad. but they are also having issues with their step mother. they still want to spend time with him even at his house. they would like to be able to choose occasionally. for instance their step mothers work is having an open house for employees and their families. My girls do not want to go to her work. they would rather wait till the function is over and then go see their dad. They are also upset because they wanted to go with their brother which dad has always allowed. This is their dads son. because their step mom said no then they couldnt go. they know they would had been allowed to go if their dad had answered. I feel im in the middle and want to elp my children but dont know what to do

You should communicate with your kids' father and explain to him what is troubling your daughters. He will be able to create more time when he can spend time with them alone. He can also determine how the relationship of his kids and the stepmother can be improved.

if you allowed them but to go on his weekend then you'd need to give them the option to go on the other weekends too

I agree with bkabui8, communicate with the father. You two, as the girls' parents, should always communicate and determine, together, what is best for your girls. Combined families are always difficult, best of luck to you and your girls!

First have them settle the promble with their stepmother, if it gets fixed they should be able to go see their father

I say it should be there choice I mean if you send them and they don't want to go then they are not going to have fun but then again if they don't want to go because they just want to be lazy and hang on there tvs and stuff then I say they should go. So i guess they should have a choice to a point but only if they have something really good to do they should skip.

A court order is a court order and it was done between 2 parents and has to be discussed between the 2 parents and if they cannot seem to come to a civil conclusion then they have to see about a court amendment .

Depending on the state you are in they may have the right to choose based on their ages
