In Quebec, what's the secondary high school system?

this is my last year in junior high school, and I'd like to know ( in general ) the secondary system... like the class choices and stuff like that...

In Quebec, you go to elementary school for 6 years (7 if you include kindergarten). Then you go to high school. There are no juniors and seniors. They have secondary 1 (grade 7) secondary 2 (grade 8) and so on until secondary 5 (grade 11). Then you graduate high school and go to Cegep. At this point, you can spend 3 years in cegep and learn a trade or technique (law enforcement, etc.). Or you can go to get general credit to prepare you for university for 2 years. Once complete, you go to University for a length of time dependant on what you are studying.

I personally believe Cegep is a waste of time; they should have 1 additional year in high school and go to university afterwards. The biggest difference however is cost. About $1,000.00 per year of tuition, affordable compared to the rest of the world. Canada believes in providing free healthcare, affordable education and housing. After that, it's up to you! Hope this helped!

In Quebec, secondary education takes over five years. Students then go on to a CEGEP where pursue their studies in either a general education branch or a technical education branch. The school year usually stretches from the end of August or the beginning of September. Check out https://zone.biblio.laurentian.ca/dspace/bitstream/10219/187/7/Quebec.pdf for more details.
