If you ask a girl/gal out for coffee or dinner and a movie and she wants to bring a girlfriend along is that a good sign?

Again just curious. I'm inclined to think it might be a "safety feature" that the gal you asked out is employing, but if it was a girl you worked with, wouldn't that be kind of suspicious if she wanted to bring a girlfriend along?

That's something I would do if I was only wanting a "friendship" with the guy :)

Hmm, interesting response. I dig how you put "friendship" in quotes like that. I guess, that is better than the gal bringing her girlfriend along just so the dude can be the source of amusement for them while they're visiting the ladies room. Still in this age of "women's lib" and "fair play" I couldn't help but wondering what a girl might think if the GUY brought along one of his buddies on such a date.

I'd be weirded out and probably not even go. LOL

Unless, it was a get together with friends, then that's a completely different story.

Not a good sign. She wants to avoid being alone with you, and doesn't want to risk anything awkward by you making a move.

If her friend brings a guy along, that is a good sign though.

REALLY? If she brings another guy along that is a good sign? Hmm, very interesting. (Not that that has ever happened to me!)

If her friend brings another guy along. Then it's like a double date.

To Indigenous: Yeah, I get it now, thanks. ( I misread your answer.)

it's a GREAT sign, tell her you'll be bringing one of YOUR friends, and ditch em both and take her aside, reverse the situation, LIKE A MAN

I think you might be right, but then that begs the question: Why even bother going out at all then?

To be honest. This did not happen to me recently. It actually happened a couple of years ago. I was just driving by the place where this occurred, and when it happened, I didn't really think that much of it, since basically it was just going out for coffee--A movie wasn't even involved or a dinner. Anyway, driving past the place just happened to spark this memory and prompted me to ask this question on here. Thanks for your answer.

You're welcome. It's strange how places and even times of year can spark those memories. I'll start thinking of a place I've been, and suddently realize it's been almost exactly one year or 7 years or however many years since I was there.

If she doesn't know you too well and / or she's not got a lot of experience or confidence handling herself, in case you start making moves on her - and she's afraid of what may happen - then you can see she's bringing someone to keep you in line. The problem is that now you've got to entertain both - and you have to make sure the friend likes you - because she's going to influence your date a great deal. The idea of the date is for you to be alone with her - find out about each other. Unless you think you can get through the date without getting aggravated - I'd have immediately set the boundary - no 3rd parties - unless, of course she's 13 and your both juveniles.

Yeah, at the time that is what bothered me the most about the arrangement: The need to put on some sort of "performance" for both of these gals. When I drove past the place where this date occurred some time ago, I remembered the date, but then I was thinking the gal I was with probably said something to the effect of: "Hey____, you have to come on this date with me! This dude is a real dork, I aske if you could come along and he said 'yeah'!" (Both these girls were SMOKING by the way.)
Report as
I should have clarified what I meant by "SMOKING" No, not cigarettes, but just smoking hot to look at. :D. (Still, anyone with a smoking fetish, would have loved these two! If I recall, they did smoke cigarettes though!)

Jebidiah: you are forgiven - you simply let the little head over-rule the big head - the one on your shoulders. This has happened to most guys at sometime in their lives - sometimes a lot of times. In the future - remember what Julius Caesar said: "divide and conquer"- the date is about intimacy between you and the girl/woman - no spectators are allowed. in the future - no matter how smokin hot she is - repeat this to yourself, "some guy, some where has or is growing tired of her" - this will remind you that there are smokin' hot girls/women out there that would be as repelled by a 3rd party on a date with you as you were.
