What can I use instead of mayo?

Mayo is very fattening and I don't care for it. Im starting a diet and want to know what I can use instead of Mayo in and on my food? like sandwiches, chicken salad

Instead of going on a diet, try a lifestyle change. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables; limit carbohydrates to small quantities at each meal Use real mayo - not something created in a lab. Shop in the store's perimeter; avoid processed and junk food. Any nutritionist who tells you to eat a low fat, low protein, high carb diet is just setting you up for disaster. If you need help with your new lifestyle changes, please see a doctor who deals with functional medicine. As long as you feed it right and give it the nutrients it needs to function properly, it will take care of you. Remember: the reason why our country has so many obese people with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc is because they are eating a low fat, low protein, high carb diet. After a while of eating like this, your body will rebel and turn against you. Good luck

Mustard is healthy and good for you in small doses apparently. - Try buying Smoked Turkey Breast from the deli and just use mustard. Or buy a small pre-cooked ham, toast it in the oven and put in the a sandwich with mustard. -- My brother likes Tuna Salsa sandwiches.

Peanut Butter and Jam? Peanut butter and Banana?

A good substitute for mayo is nonfat plain yogurt, don't forget to check out the spice isle at the grocery store. Giant Eagle has awesome spices from all over the world they add flavor to food giving u more variety so you don't get bored. Don't hate yourself for not following your diet changes to a fault because moderation is the true secret. Good luck

SHORTGRL23 visit the Weight Watchers and Hungry Girl websites for some awesome ideas. DMOMOF6 is very right. I've lost and kept off 40 pounds with Weight Watchers and what she said is much along the lines of the program. The key to permanent weight loss is not a "diet" but LIFESTYLE CHANGE. None of us got fat on fruits and vegetables. None of us got fat on the OCCASIONAL piece of pie or slice of pizza. It is when we eat to excess and the wrong things too often that get us in trouble. Our American society has accepted poor eating habits as the norm (supersized, high carb, high fat) to the point that we have to LEARN what the proper way to eat is. So sad !

I'm with BrandiWanto... "Fage" Greek-style non-fat plain yogurt is my fave! Most of its whey has been strained out, leaving a nice, thick yogurt which can be used as the base for dressings, dips, you-name-it. Mix this with a very small amount of olive oil mayo, and you'll fail to know the difference. Low-fat cream cheese is also extremely good as a dressing base -- my mother makes a potato salad using cream cheese, that is delectable.

The fat free version of Miracle Whip is actually REALLY good! Always went with the light because I thought the FF version would be just awful- but it surprised me when I tried it. I couldn't tell the difference!!!

Use Lite Mayo? Switch from white bread to wheat as well. Try horseradish, pesto or hummus mixed with oil. Try some salsa for a new flavor. Maybe try a soup and half a sandwich? If you want to diet, eat more fruit as that will make you feel full for a lot longer than a sandwich due to the fiber. Honey mustard is a good alternate.

Hellman's has a reduced fat mayo that was good, their fat free mayo was not. Greek Yogurt with 10% fat works surprisingly well, it's much better than sour cream and has protein & nutrients. Vegan mayonnaise is good and it's just canola oil. Get it refrigerated, the stuff that's warm on the shelf is never good. Drizzled EVOO works well for potato/veggie salad and you can get away with a lot less. In a pinch I've use Ranch dressing, it has so much flavor you don't need much.
