Because we loved them as kids and well... you gotta admit you miss those days. Plus some of those characters are just really epic and stay with you :)

Well a lot of teens are idiots not saying all of them are I'm just a 14 myself but yea they think it's cute or funny when really it makes them look like a complete moron

Still don't see it. What does the character have to do with someone looking like an idiot? All it shows is that they apparently liked Elmo when they were little. ._.

Who cares if its for little kids? If you like/liked something, you like it. Thats all there is to it. So it doesnt make you look like an idiot, especially when so many people wear them

People started wearing those shirts without caring whether it was thought of as "cool" or not because they really loved that character. And I guess it caught on from there.
