Is it necessary to refrigerate a Subway sandwich?

The cold of the fridge hardens the bread. If you wrapped it up well, would it still make you sick to eat it the next day?

Anything that starts off refrigerated.
So just about everything needs to be cold to prevent bacteria.
It might be a pain but you could take the ingredients out of the bread and refrigerate them while leaving the bread aside, as long as it's dry,or get fresh bread and remake the sandwich.

What I do is take the sandwich out of the wrapper and put in a zip lock bag it will not harden. And put back in fridge.

Depends on if there is mayo on it, and how hot it is.

Personally, I've done that a few times ... just wrapped the uneaten portion, and left it out for the next day. But my house seldom gets over 65 degrees, and I never have mayo on them.

Food safe says: Put it in the fridge within the first 2 hours or chuck it. It may or may not make you sick... its the chance that you take. Sometimes it grows bad bacteria sometimes the bacteria isn't that bad.;) Bon a petit!!!

All meat products have to be refrigerated .. not to mention mayonnaise. Refrigeration is the only thing that reduces bacterial growth .. THAT's the stuff that causes food poisoning.

If you are unsure whether food needs to go in the fridge I think you need a new name.

I don't like that the bread gets hard either, I usually put in microwave for like 15 seconds to make better the 2nd day.

It's alright, I know that it goes bad if you don't put it in the fridge, I just really wanted an excuse to eat it after I left it out on accident... :D

Anything that starts out cold needs to be kept below 40 degrees. Anything hot has to be kept above 140 degrees. (NSF requirements). If you can't keep it at or over 140 degrees, refrigerate at or below 40 degrees.
