What can I do to get the best deal on a great MacBook pro from the apple store?

Apple is not a company that is known for giving deals. The only real deals to be found are if you are a student or if you look to buy a refurbished computer. Alternately, you can wait until next black Friday but that will be a while.

From what I know you can get a great deal on a MacBook pro from the Apple Store by being a student. I was able to save over fifteen percent on my Apple Store purchase.
