There were some before that however Murray was the one who invented the steam locomotive that ran on timber rails. It is considered to be probably the first railroad engine.

Grow up my facts are not false if you cannot bother to do the research then I would suggest that you stay off of forums such as this. I take the time to double and triple check my answers BEFORE I post them

He was talking about the LNER Class V2, which was invented by Herbert Nigel Gresley, smart One. .

You're such a loser, for having to check online, for facts, maybe if you would pay attention, in class you wouldn't look like an idiot. . Because I was correct in every aspect I was speaking about, including what "iforgotmyemail" wanted

Ok. I googled it and read an article by someone named Mary Bellis who said that wagonways which were wooden rails over which horsedrawn wagons were in use in Germany as early as 1550.
In 1776 steel rails were developed followed by flanged wheels to better grip the rails in 1789. Englishman William Jessup is credited with this invention. At this time horse drawn carts were still in use.
A man named Richard Trevithick built the first steam powered tramway locomotive which was demonstrated on 2/22/1804.
George Stephenson is considered to be the inventor of the first Steam Powered Railway Locomotive as Richard Trevithick's Tramway Locomotive was considered a road Locomotive.
I left out a lot of details. If you want more, google it yourself.

It never ends, does it ? Dad said when he and I first joined, all you did was ask and answer questions and maybe talk some. Now, everybody bitches at each other and argue and say rude things. What a change !
Report as
Yes it can get ridiculous. Ego driven BS. I got a kick out of the comment which gave the other guy a hard time about having to research his facts. Are we supposed to have instant recall of all knowlege?

I learn a lot answering questions. I try to stay away from the Religious stuff and the politics but sometimes I just can't resist the politics.
I'm glad you're around. It gives me some connection to your Dad. I'll miss you when you go back to Turkey.

I'll find out today if they're going to let me have another 30 days leave . I haven't taken even half of my leaves , so I think they'll say OK . My Dad is awake and says " Hello " !

Tell him I say hi back. I hope his health improves. I'm spending a lot of time on here and I'm thinking after you go back I just might give it up for awhile. I probably won't delete my account but with all the lame questions on here I don't think it's a good use of my time. I used to use it to get answers and there are a few people on here I like but it's not as fun or as useful as it used to be. There are a couple of other sites that actually pay for writing articles. I might try that. The green thumbs on here are nice but they don't pay the rent.

I hear ya ! That's what my Dad said too. What do you get for all of it ? Nothing but a headache ! I can't hardly find anything to answer. Too many people who think they're God because of the thumbs. Big deal !
