Why is my Xbox 360 lagging strangely?

Hi. I can deal with regular lag spikes and such(I have a terrible internet connection), but this is something else. It might not even be lag.

Anyway so I wanted to play Cod4 because it wasn't working because my disc drive's laser eye was old and dusty. I opened up my Xbox and cleaned off the dust and cleaned the laser eye with a Q-tip dipped lightly in rubbing alcohol. When I put it back together, it was working fine(at my Dad's house). Then, I took it back to my Mom's where it usually is, and started playing Cod4 and MW2, but I noticed every 5-10 seconds I had a brief lag(for between 100 and 600 milliseconds the screen freezes). The weird part is that, unlike most lag, it happens every. Single. Game. The entire game, every 5 seconds, it lags.

But that's not it. I'm usually a very good player,(1st or 2nd in most games) but ever since I put my Xbox back together, it seems like I'm ALWAYS aiming too much or too little. Literally overnight my very, very good and quick aim was destroyed?? It's beyond frustrating! I use a wireless adapter or whatever for my internet on the xbox. Any suggestions on what I should do? If you need more information just ask.

It could be the connection at your moms house, worse than your dads?

Internet connections are for playing with others, not playing alone.

Cod4 and MW2 are the only ones I'm noticing it on. For example I know it's not everything because I can watch DVDs normally. I think Reach and RPGs are normal, too.

I only play Sonic games and Minecraft, so I have no idea what you are talking about. Do you play them with friends online?

Yes, I play Cod4 and MW2 online with people. I tried several things to combat this, I changed outlets to plug in the Xbox, I moved it so the wireless adapter had a closer and more direct route to the modem, etc., but to no avail.

Well, I have nothing to say to that exept that you should take this to a professional. A recomend Play and Trade (They fixed on of my games that wasn't possible to fix)
