How do you know when someone is lying over the phone or in person?

There are usually some simple things to look for. Like they often sound a little different. They pause before answering things. They give unclear answers, etc
In person you can usually tell by the way they look, their eye contact often changes. They often get fidgety.

If they sound nervous
Or if they can't concentrate on the conversation, or even if there very focused on the conversation

When they give more information than what is needed. For instance, they give you a long story. Also if they say um or like a lot. Also blinking or not looking you in the eye is one. Voice changes too.

in person well if they try to stare really hard unto your eyes or they can't look at you directly. on the phone its hard if you don't really know the person,but if you do you should know how he or she is.
