Already have to some degree but it will get worse as the end of time approaches. When i was a kid in public school some of my teachers had bibles on their desks and talked openly about their faith and in English classes we learned things like capitalizing the name God, etc and science teachers could mention creation and we could pray in class or at assemblies or before sports events. The govt outlaws most of that now sooo... Even Christmas celebrations are being outlawed and many city govts refuse to use the word 'christmas'.
Government doesn't turn on religion, it just doesn't include it in it's roles. A good government is representative of it's entire population and therefore cannot get involved or influenced by any given religion. In my humble opinion, religion is really a philosophical question and any government that runs the state on a basis of pure philosophy is very dangerous. Just look at our history for a multitude of examples.
To the Christians it feels as though it has, but that's only because our constitution states there be a separation of church and state. Their great grand children however will be thankful when or if Islam or Hindu become the majority.
It's just a matter of time before they do. There is so much corruption in religion, as regards to holy wars, scandal church coverups, and greed regarding money. It's only a matter of time. Don't worry though because Daniel 2:44 says that Jesus will set up a kingdom here on earth that will never be brought to ruin, and this new kingdom will stand to times indefinite.

Well.. the separation of church and state requires that they do not allow religion to influence their choices. Does this mean we "turned" on religion at the very conception of our nation? I don't think so.
Many governments already have. Obamacare, enacted by Congress in 2010, through a Department of Health & Human Services implementing regulation, issued in January 2012, has denied many employers their right to freedom of conscience, which is the most serious threat to our continued Religious Liberty we have ever experienced, by requiring them to provide contraceptives (all of which cause abortion), and abortion services, for their employees, who don't work directly for a Church, or other religious group. This is an early step, down the road to the denial of the right to freedom of religion, in this country! if you don't want this to happen, call, email, and write, the President, your Senators, and your Representative, right away, and keep doing so. I hope this has clarified; and helped a lot. Excellent question! Very glad you asked it! Frank
No. It's simply a smear campaign purported by the church to influence subscription. The more appropriate question would be, "why is the church so eager to turn on to state"? Government has never turned on to religion as much as the church did!
