How do you prevent breast cancer?

Report as

I see a lot of comments about early detection, but causation is another question entirely. One cause that has been largely ignored by mainstream medicine is the connection between Parabens and breast cancer. The 6 out types of parabens you will find are: methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, isobutylparaben, butylparaben and benzylparaben.
Parabens are easy to spot on product labels because they end in paraben. A 2004 study in the Journal of Applied Toxicology detected five types of intact parabens in 18 of 20 samples of breast tumors. The study went over the estrogen-like properties of parabens and it's estrogen like activity on breast cancer. The lead researcher, Philippa Darbre, indicated that they had been absorbed through the skin (via deodorants, lotion, shampoos, conditioners and other personal care products). The presence of intact parabens in tumor tissue shows not only that these chemicals are absorbed through the skin, but that they also persist and accumulate in breast cancer tissue. While a conclusion has not been reached, I would recommend all women take this information seriously and start reading the labels of all products they use.

I agree chemical pollution of our environment is a contributing factor to ALL cancers. What you say applies equally to Prostate Cancer in men - even to breast cancer in men! But I believe they simply trigger hereditary risks. There are some exciting programs available in America, which are worth tracking down through the usual Search Engines.

get checked often. cancer cells are already inside the human body, you can get it, everyone can. i've heard that tomatoes and brocollii prevent it but idk

Yes: the body clears thousands of cancer cells every day, but the key to breast cancer is to know what your genetic risks are. Oh: tomatoes - yes, but only the red ones - the lycopene in them is useful. Surprisingly there is more lycopene in tomato sauce than in fresh tomatoes! Broccoli is a little unreliable, but broccoli SPROUTS is consistently reliable as a preventive for breast cancer. Mr Google will tell you why.

You do need to know how extreme your hereditary factors are - if all previous generations had breast cancer, you are looking at total cosmetic mastectomy. Basically a rebuilt breast that retains the living nipple tissue. With "normal" levels of susceptibility, you can take proven steps to prevent the development of breast cancer. Broccoli Sprouts (high in sulfurothane) have been demonstrated to prevent the development of breast lesions and about 200 grams a day is the maintenance amount. Other research equates breast cancer development with Selenium levels in the soil and food you eat. My wife and I both have 150 micrograms of Selenium daily as a preventive measure. (Men get breast cancer, too!!!) Mr. Google can give you thousands of references for these recommendations if you are interested. Find a Naturopath or a Homeopath in your area and book a chat to get more facts.

Breast Cancer has a lot to do w/ the genes in your body. You are sometimes predisposed for cancer. Both my father & grandfather had lung cancer, and I had breast cancer. I NEVER SMOKED....EARLY DIAGNOSIS - MAMMOGRAM & SELF-EXAMINATION IS THE KEY. Also, don't rush to do radical surgery. Get a second opinion on any life-changing diagnosis. I did, and found out I was at stage 0. My surgeon wanted to do a mastectomy after two lumpectomies. Going to a doctor/surgeon who specializes in the disease is also important. Going to a cancer hospital/surgeon saved me. THAT IS ALSO IMPORTANT! It's been 12 years. I stopped my caffeine (although was told not drive myself crazy).
Do your research & have referrals in place just in case. Speak to women who have gone though it. GET PROACTIVE IN YOUR DIAGNOSIS/CURE! PS-I only go to doctors I feel comfortable with and feel comfortable asking questions/suggestions.

There is a "light at the end of the tunnel!!!!"

There are TWO genes that you can carry which predispose you to breast cancer and they can become active whether you smoke or not. Sadly DNA sequencing is expensive, so it is used only where someone has a predictably high risk of inheriting breast cancer genes. We put our trust in broccoli sprouts and 150 micrograms of Selenium every day. And we keep our fingers crossed, too....

Breast Cancer .org says heredity plays only a 5-10% role.

At this time, there is no way to prevent breast cancer. It's a hideous disease, and the only thing you can do is to monitor the health of your breasts. If you catch it early enough, you can survive it.

I am not an Oncologist, so I can't promise you anything. BUT: there are exciting approaches towards prevention and treatment of breast cancer. If you are at risk, it is worth your while to search for and read the research papers that offer clinically-proven hope... Messrs Google and Yahoo are very helpful finding these reports.

i heard that a form of breast cancer can be irritation on the skin and that's why you get it, I've heard that if you wear a wire bra that is to tight the wire irritates your skin continuously creating an irritation so if you want to prevent this kind of cancer you can buy wireless bras

I've had breast cancer and I am convinced that it was brought on by an estrogen replacement pill. In retrospect I would not use estrogen replacement therapy.

One thing to consider, like disiple33 mentioned is correct ph level. You don't want your body's chemical balance to become acidic, which causes inflammation and is a breeding ground for all kinds of illnesses, I believe, including cancer. You can look up foods and things that cause inflammation, but I know for sure that too much sugar is a major cause. Read up and check labels because they hide sugar in EVERYTHING it seems and they name it all kinds of things so they don't have to include it in the sugar percentage content on the side of the box.

If you knew the devastating effect this procedure has on women, you wouldn't suggest it except as a last resort. HOWEVER - where the hereditary risk is high, elective mastectomy is a life-saving procedure. Only your Oncologist can make that decision....

Yes, last resort, I agree. Sorry if I came across as insensitive.

Both men and women (both have breast tissue) need to do a self examination monthly (the proper way) and women need to have mammograms on the schedule your doctor recommends. He/she should also do a breast exam as part of your physical. Answers here benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure which is a group working on a cure or prevention of breast cancer. I got off birth control pills after I developed non-cancerous breast cysts which had to be removed surgically (no long necessary to operate).
