What are some tips to follow on battlefield 3?

I can get a lot of kills but I always seem to die right after. Can anybody give me some guidelines

Well I always say stick to the shadows for snipers. I think the glint that your scope gives off isn't there if you are in the shadows, but I don't know for sure.
