Does my toddler scratch at his legs cause me and his father separated?

My son has sores all over his legs from picking and scratching. I cannot get him to leave them alone. His father and I split around six months ago, but he started the scratching and picking at his legs when his father quit seeing him every weekend. Could this be from due to something emotional or just a toddler phase. Wondering if I should be worried enough to take him to the doctor or just ride it out.

It's normal for kids to pick at sores. I would trim his nails so he can't pick at them so much. But he's very young, I'm not sure a dr would be able to help too much:(. Sorry. But I hope he's okay emotionally. Just don't talk about his dad. I know plenty of mothers who does and the kid never had an issue till the mom basically beat it in their head. Good luck!

Wouldn't be from that. My son picked at his legs and other spots for the first year and a half of his life. It was eczema. Take him to a doctor.

Or ... he could have a reaction to your laundry soap, bath soap (or any additives like bubble bath or bath oil), dry skin .. something is making him itchy. Highly perfumed products will cause someone with sensitive skin to become very itchy.

Could even be a food allergy. Does he have a rash of any kind?
