Gays will be more public. Homophobes and Anti-Gay people will write threatening letters to the president and congress. And Christians wont be to happy since it is against the Bible and America was founded by Christians.
Well, in the states where gays can marry ( like in my state of Delaware) nothing is different than before they could marry - just a lot of couples who have been together for years- now being able to get SOME of the same rights as heterosexuals
It has no affect on anyone who is not gay. ~ It was the same when interracial marriage was legalized. ~ It affects no one except those who participate in it.....it will allow those who love each other to be married.....period. ~ Has an interracial marriage ever hurt anyone? Of course not. Neither will a gay marriage.
Gay marriage has been legal in Canada for years with nothing negative happening. The religious right doesn't have much of a stronghold here. One of my professors married a woman. I know a couple of teachers who married this way. The students all know. No big deal. There were no complaints from parents. It is quite normalized now. It's like this in other countries too. It comes under equity and equality, and the fact that there is no reason why they should not be married, and divorced, if they wish. This is a political decision, not a religious one. It's all good. I wish it was there too.
Next people will start demanding the right to marry their pets, autos, trees you name it. "Once the camel gets it's nose under the tent, it is only a matter of time before the camel is in the ten"t. In case you want to start ranting about being anti-Islam, that is an old Arabic proverb.
It's been legal in Iowa for years too. Gays only got the same legal rights and responsibilities as the straights. It's no big deal here. Why shouldn't they be miserable as all of the straight married couples anyway?
The people against it will have a panic attack (and good riddance), and the rest of us will be happy about it. It'll be done and over with and people will find something else to argue about like a bunch of immature people.
