Philips 32PF5331/12 HD-Ready I turn the tv on, the picture doesn't come on , just the sound. Have to turn it off and on a few times to work

Worse if it's being off for a long time

The problem is either the backlight or the power supply to the backlight. If you can see a bit of light at the bottom of the screen, then probably the problem is the video circuitry, not the backlight. Talk to someone at the Philips service center or call technical support.
