When you give a gift to someone, is it important to wrap the gift?

Report as

I usually try to avoid gift wrap. It's horrible for the environment, expensive, and wasteful. Instead, I use containers and non-conventional methods of wrapping. It really doesn't cost any more than gift wrap, ribbon and bow anyway. Baskets, vintage tea-towels, and vintage lace doilies make nice gift wrap for women. For guys, gym towels and t-shirts will do the trick.

Thanks. This way, I don't feel so guilty about "collecting" vintage linens, lol.

Thanks I'll try those

And my family is notorious for reusing gift bags. I don't think any of us has actually purchased a gift bag since 1997.

wow. this is one of the most unusual questions. um... well it all depends. i mean if you dont you might seem like you dont care if they get a surprise for it and you dont care about their happiness. on the other hand, if you do, itll seem great. you can either wrap it, or put it in a gift bag and make sure they cant see whats in it. but yeah, it is important. why? are you thinking about giving that lucky guy a ring? lol

Cant you at least put it in a gift bag with tissue paper?? It gives the illusion that you werent too lazy to wrap.

It really depends on the size of the gift & the age of the person receiving the gift. Kids love ripping off the wrapping paper, at my age it's just more trash to pick up. Besides all the gifts I get are to large to wrap & a bow is just fine

Well, if you wrap it, it'll be a surprise. But, if you don't wrap it, you can just hide it somewhere they won't find it, then tell them you have a surprise for them, then give it to them, it'll still work.

Yes. Depending on how much you want to surprise. Put in big box then smaller then smaller. You get the idea.

Christmas gifts are always wrapped. On other days like valentines and birthdays I usually use a gift bag type thing. So on any occasion but christmas I do not think it is important to wrap a gift but maybe present it differently.

Not a picky person I am grateful to receive and prefer to give than receive. So I will ask what am I getting you? :).

It depends on the gift and the one you're giving it too. Wrapping it to me just means you gave EXTRA time to make the gift more special.

Wrapping it isn't important. The gift isn't really that important... The generosity of your heart is what counts. BTW, Great looking mustaches with a short goatee are important.

Not as much as the gift itself. How important it is depends on the person's preference, though. And, hey there! I'm back on.
