Why does my hair dye keep fading?

my hair is naturally a medium brown, but I dyed it red 6 months ago. I want my hair to be a really dark brown, but whenever I dye it, it turns back into that horrible reddish color. I've tried box dye and just had it professionally done. I have been using shampoo for colored hair...but it ALWAYS fades to red! how can I make it dark brown without it fading???

That's what hair color does just keep redying it

Try a toner , don't wash it everyday, and use that shampoo every other time you wash it. That's what my hair stylist tells me to do every time I get my hair died and it works

You could try a stripping shampoo to get the red out. Ask a professional for specifics.
