Why do Republicans automatically call a democrat a communist if a democrat wants to give money to someone who is trying to HELP THEMSELVES.

why do they take it to the most extreme and say we want to give EVERY poor person everything without any accountability on behalf of the person receiving the handout? why the extremism and mind reading without even knowing our beliefs? why clump us all together?

It's easier and more dramatic to claim the extreme, dems and reps are both guilty but the word "liberal" has been turned into a dirty word by the neo-cons even though emancipation, womans rights, equal rights, child labor laws etc. were all liberal movements. I've even heard some say those were republican causes as well without realizing the difference of a party and a philosophy.

So true. Nobody pays attention if you say something that's ACTUALLY happening!

I think I don't judge myself as strictly a Democrat or Republican. I just look at both sides of their solutions and pick which one I think is more reasonable. However I do agree that the two parties BOTH have stereotypes about the other. Not every Republican feels this way, you're just basing it off of the majority and that's not fair. And maybe you should try to look at things from THEIR perspective. We do want to help people but maybe we should worry about ourselves first.

Maybe you are right- I think I may just be basing my opinion off the small sample of people on ask.com and family from the south

Many republicans don't accuse of that. You only notice the ones who do.

Is that supposed to mean something?

Nothing passive aggressive just you are right- maybe their are ones who don't resort to this and that I may be basing my opinion on something without gathering enough data

To be fair, you don't usually notice the quiet ones.

Most major cities have multiple generations of welfare families. Detroit has has a welfare class since the 1960s as has Cleveland and Chicago. These are the three large cities I have spent the most time in. They all seem to have the latest clothes, smart phones, most expensive cars and all the women have fresh manicures. I realize not all do but it seems to be the majority.

That is a good point. To me, the republicans on here tend to go from one extreme to another (ex: Democrats want gun regulations = conservatives: DEMS WANT TO BAN GUNS NOW! Lets all freak out!!)

Hi, Anna. One thing I've repeated over and over is that those who are quiet are never noticed. That means the reps who don't freak out are never seen while the ones who do are seem to be everywhere.

That's a good point! But I feel like most of the conservatives I've spoken to on here seem to go to extremes. But like caluvox said, BOTH sides do that- it's more dramatic & people do it to help get their point out.

What I get pissed about is the spending just to get votes. Like giving out those free cell phones. putting all those people on food stamps that don't even try to get a job are won't work.

I guess is that when democrats give someone money it's because they had to take that money from someone else usually under penalty of law. There is a difference between giving your money to a charity to help someone and having the government take your money to give to someone that some politician decides needs your money.
