Since there is no real proof of evolution, what's really going on?

Report as

The creationist view is that the world is 6000 years old and that humans came from 2 and then 8 source people. Evolutionist have theorized life began around 3.8 billion years ago and evolved through natural selection and environmental effects over that time period giving us the world we have today. Your claim that there is no evidence of evolution is wrong, there are massive amounts of evidence to support the science of evolution. In the religious community it is recognized by groups such as the Roman Catholic church, the Methodist church, Episcopal church, the Dali Lama, The Muslim sects of Sunni and Shia, and the conference of American Rabbi's. You should put down your bible for a moment, take a break from the ICR and do some study on evolution and then you can find out for yourself.

What's goin on is that scientists don't believe in religion so they must come up with a reason that makes since to them. But what really happened is that God made everything:)

Most scientist are people of faith, they just have learned to accept the bible stories as metiphores and not scientific fact.

They're not metaphors some are parables-stories used to show something's else

There is really no proof of ANY creation, whether big bang or God. Two theories that the religions and sciences will never agree on.

There is overwhelming evidence of evolution. Stay in school and keep an open mind.

I've gene through school, including college. Please state an example of PROOF of the Theory of evolution.

Go to university instead. If you stay in bible college, you don't get exposed to new ideas. Study anthropology, paleontology, archaeology at the university level anywhere in the world except where you are right now.

If you ignore all the genetic, anatomical and geological evidence, I guess there wouldn't be any support for the theory.

What's happening is that both creationists and evolutionists are fighting over the same evidence. I think that we'd all agree that we have the same rock layers, the same fossils, the same animals, the same earth, and the same universe (in most cases... there are those few people, though). What's really going on is that we're looking at the same evidence and then adding our own interpretation based on our worldview - the secular worldview, or the worldview from God's Word. What's really going on is that both sides are claiming that their interpretation of the evidence is right - but only one is. Which one is it? That's what the whole entire debate is about. One side will try to convince everyone of their interpretation, while the other side will try to convince everyone of their's. This will keep going on until one side wins over the entire culture, including their opponents.

Hope this helps - Zack

The only fight going on over the evidence is that creationist say it is wrong, as in the wild and laughable claim that radio-carbon dating is fake. The evolutionist, aka, real scientist accept the evidence as factual.

@Godordirt: If the assessment you offered in your last sentence is correct, so far so good for the scientific method.

caluvox, we each have our interpretation of the evidence. We all have the same fossils, rock layers, animals, earth, stars, galaxies, and universe, but different starting assumptions. You think that 14 billion years ago there was a big bang, and then the stars and planets formed some 5 billion years ago. Then 4.6 billion years ago you believe the earth cooled off. Then it rained on the rocks for millions of years and filled the oceans. And then meteor started bombarding the oceans and brought with them amino acids. Then you believe this formed a Primordial soup and this gave rise to life... And here we are.

I believe something quite different. I believe that about 6,000 years ago God, the God of the Bible, created the universe and everything in it by His word in six days. Then Adam and Eve sinned which brought death, disease, and suffering into the world. Then about 4,400 years ago there was a huge world-wide flood, which would account for many of the rock layers and fossils we see today.

We have very different starting points, therefore we have different interpretations of the evidence. Take the Grand Canyon for example, you believe that it was formed by a little water in a lot of time, I believe that it was formed by a lot of water in a little time. You are trying to look at the present and explain the past while creationists are looking at the past to explain the present.

CalTex, the "scientific method" isn't doing a thing. The secularits are doing all the work taking over the eductation, entertainment, and many other systems. Most of the time people are only getting one side of the argument. This is also partially the church's fault. We are not touching the culture like we used to. Pastors, church leaders, and many other teachers in the church compromise on the Bible (and people find this as hypocrisy) and have no idea how to answer the skeptical questions of the age. The "scientific method" isn't winning the culture, the secularits are.

Rmoran, you can insult me all you want, but you're not changing my words.

Neodarwinian, if you think that ALL of AiG's arguments are nonesense, then, this is just a suggestion, why don't you debate them? If what you say is true, you should have no trouble whatsoever showing them what they really are. Afterall, you seem to be very adamant about proving creationists wrong. Heck, go ahead and debate Ken Ham. Or how about biologist vs. biologist - neodarwinian vs. Dr. David Menton? Or neodarwinian vs. Dr. Georgia Purdom? Or why don't you go and debate Eric Hovind, or wait until Kent gets out of jail and debate him? What I see with you is a lot of talk - I just see hollow words. If it's really nonesense, quit hiding behind your computer screen and show me how stupid it really is. Love 'ya! :)

There is no proof in general. Science is about creating and refining theories.

Science and math have proven that life cannot accidentally come into existence on it's own. Science has proven that we all came genetically from one woman. Science and the fossil record shows that different lifeforms once existed on the earth, but then many suddenly died off, such as the dinosaurs. So even the fossil record does not give evidence to evolution. The animals stayed as they were, and still are today, such as the shark, or they died out. Birds did not evolve from dinosaurs. The dinosaurs simply died out. But then interpretation comes into play, or rather a twisting of the facts. The one woman must have been 100,000 years ago. They have no answer for how life came to be. It just did. And evolution must have happened in sudden spurts, leaving no fossil record to prove that it happened. The evidence is there, but the facts are being twisted.

You are confusing evolution and biogenesis, they are two differant fields and science hasn't proven life cannot accidentally come into existence, they just haven't determined how. As to evidence of evolution how would you explain homo-erectus, homo-habilus, neanderthal, or any of the other fossil evidence that has been found of both human and animal ancestors ?

Evolution can be witnessed. There's simply far too much evidence. Believing in god requires an act of faith. There's no solid proof. Who's to say that evolution isn't god's programming language for life? No one can answer this question for you. You have to choose for yourself.

Because the term 'evolution' has various meanings. It is true and in another sense, false and unproven (and unprovable). Adaptations within species is observable.

Transformations from one species to another has no clear evidence. Fossil evidence overwhelmingly supports what might be termed 'special creation' and not transitional forms. So, until pigs fly, the second form of evolution (sometimes referred to a Darwinian or macro-evolution), then people will choose their beliefs based on their theology. For atheists who claim no theology they are left with Darwin to rescue them from even the remote possibility of a Creator. One of the apostles of the modern atheist movement (practically a 'religion' in many ways), expressed his faith this way,

"Even if there were no actual evidence in favor of the Darwinian theory ... we would still be justified in preferring it over rival theories [creationism]." Richard Dawkins, The Blind Watchmaker

Once God is rejected, evolution and naturalism must be embraced by faith.
