It could make it jealous too and cause problems. I'm not getting another dog till after my dog passes. If you've always had the one just wait. Because when animals die dogs really go there depression like you. A new dog won't replace it, but a new dog would help make you feel a tad better
Good thing about animals, they don't usually crave pups.. If your dog has a strong mothering need, try getting a new puppy or kitten. My friends dog never had her own puppies but mothered the family's cats and children, haha
Your dog can have a litter at that age but may not be able to produce milk for them, happened to my dog, and you will have to hand feed each all day and night for weeks on end. That's very hard under the best conditions.

12 years old is entering into senior years .. There is no reason to purposely breed her .. it may be very hard on her. These are the years when signs of old age become more aggressive .. especially arthritis .. I wouldn't encourage it.
Besides, the world already has it's fill of abandoned puppies. Bringing more puppies into this world just steals away from any relief the others are already begging for.
Please get her spayed having puppies shorten dogs lives and makes them much more heathy trust me I work in a vets office plus you don't seem to know what you are doing and if u don't know you can kill the puppies and or the the mother
