No not usually, they first hit prisons & crack houses for the best recruits. Of course, they recruit at the college level. The navy & air force are much more technical & equipment based as a whole. There are many jobs in both of those branches where pocket protectors are more practical than body armor
The US navy can recruit a person who is enrolled in college. What they require is that the person should be of 17 years to 34 years. However, those under 18 years of age need permission from their parents. The person must not be a single parent.
