What would happen if the APP went head to head with the Facebook Secret Society?

Confused? Don't be. The APP is the members of Ask.com, that have achieved well over 10,000 green thumbs. The Secret Facebook Society, are a bunch of atheists, that felt it necessary to leave Ask, and start their own chat group on Facebook(I guess). So what in your opinion, do you think would happen?

Our skills are more greatly honed since we actually talk to more than just 4 different people a day, and we don't feel as though we are better than everyone else, we are just looking out for the good of abused users here. We don't go out of our way to find trouble, but if trouble knocks then we answer the door with a Double Barrel Shotgun :)

They don't feel like they are above anyone else nor are there 4 members. The numbers have grown.
Report as
I don't really know them. All I know is if they couldn't find their way around the rules here like a lot of us have, then they had to do what they had to do. I wasn't and didn't say that they did think they were better than anyone else, my comment there was about The APP. People can do whatever they like, as long as they don't threaten my freedom 8) And you seem to be taking offense when none was meant. But you read it how ever you like :)
Report as
I'm quick on the trigger so you would have noticed if I was offended, which I am not.

She has to have all of her guard up Nate, she is the only one here that is bantering about FB. I applaud her for her bravery and her effort.

Thanks Faded.

Yeah, that's all good, and as I said I'm not sitting here talking smack about people, I just don't see how much fun could possibly be had when you're talking with such a small group of people. The fun of Ask is NEVER knowing what's gonna happen next or where the conversation is going to turn to. Everyday is a blindfolded path of insanity, and that's the way I like it. The total unpredictability is what keeps me coming back, well that and knuckleheads like Faded 8)
Report as
Maybe interesting conversation minus mods allows for adults to fully express ideas.
Report as
Well, some do still frequent the site, and this will probably end up to be a topic of discussion. Could be interesting to say the least...

I don't know, I don't get deleted enough for leaving to be an option.......
People are always complaining about getting deleted here and I just wonder what they could possibly be doing all the time to warrant deletion?????
Report as
I get away with a LOT of stuff, so the people being deleted must have been doing something.......

Mr_FadedGlory
You can get on the mods chit list, but they let up eventually.
Report as
And the two times they really should have deleted me, my comment stands and my answer stands. LOL

They're human, they're gonna make mistakes.
Report as
Nafta that's not necessarily true. Also, I seriously doubt that this would be a subject of discussion.
Report as
Belly, again, I'm not specifically talking about the people that left. There are people on here everyday complaining that their answers and comments are being deleted. I can't believe that the Mods have given me some sort of special rights to do whatever I want to do, I do my best to play by the rules and it's been workin fine
Report as
Mods Sherri and Deanna are sisters. Just an interesting fact. I suppose you should just keep doing what you are doing then- if it's working for you...

Most def there would be interesting discussions and varied points of view. I think there is quite a lot of assumptions made regarding the FB group. One is that all are atheists, another is that there is some sort of snobbish desire to be separate. In reality, isn't it quite possible that it is merely a forum to express intelligent but different opinions?

Yes, of course it is possible.
Report as
Mr_FadedGlory
I think it would be very interesting. I think there is a lot of intelligence on both sides.
Report as
Agreed.
Report as
You have to admit, it is a bit "secretive". You can't even see who's on the page unless you're invited to join and then agree to join. Or maybe that has changed.
Report as
Needing an invitation doesn't make a group secretive.
Report as
No, I meant that you don't know who's there until you've actually joined.

I don't need 10,000 "greens" to outwit some other nitwits........:P

Do not get insulting, that shows weakness on your part.
Report as
Insulting is just one weapon that I (rarely) use. You wouldn't go out with just a grenade now would you?
Report as
Mr_FadedGlory
In this setting, I wouldn't go out with anything other than my own intelligence.
Report as
Well I prefer to use all of my "weapons" . Humor, sarcasm, empathy, disgust annoyance, and yes even intelligence. You never know just which one might be needed.

I think they started the FB because they were tired of being moderated and/or deleted. It was a frustrating time then. I think there would be heated discussions and there would be laughs too. We're all just people. We all met here on ASK. Some evolved to FB, some stayed here and some do both. Look at us, we're crazier than all of them. We've actually met up and hung out. Who does that? Who meets strangers on the internet?

There were other factors also. I believe they were sick and tired of all the sophomoric questions being asked, over and over again, and also new moderators deleting a lot of their questions and answers, something, they were not use to.
Report as
*evolved to Facebook* Hmmmmm :)
Report as
Evolved is the right word... and yes, those were/are all factors.

The reason I asked this, is because I am confused. I don't know why certain revered members felt it necessary to just get up and leave. I know this place gets rough. I know there are a lot of kids asking a lot of the same questions, but that's just how life is. It's up and down, and we made so many good friends, why leave all together?
Report as
Like you said, life has it's ups and downs. And just like real life, people come into your life, some are forever and some are just passing through.
Report as
Perhaps it seemed abrupt but some felt as though their answers were being targeted by mods. Others felt that is was becoming less of a place where well thought out answers were appreciated. Some thought it was becoming a soap box for zealots. Much consideration and sadness over leaving the site was felt by some I'm sure, and perhaps others didn't miss it much.
