Who do you think is better?

the old lynyrd skynyrd band or the new?
to me the new one doesn't sound right.
me and my dad would listen to their songs, the new band isn't as good.

Because Boy Bands typically have four or five stereotypic roles to fill to fit the formula. There's the bad boy, the clean-cut wholesome kid, the quiet mysterious one, the comical one, etc. Think about it, ALL boybands are manufactured to fit this same formula. It probably comes from trying to recapture the Beatles natural chemistry. John was the Cool Beatle, Paul was the Cute Beatle, George was the Quiet Beatle, and Ringo was the Funny Beatle.

That's true they do that. The difference is The Beatles were original, they had talent, they actually played musical instruments and wrote songs.

JDBoDean - exactly. I didn't mean to imply that the Beatles were following a formula. They were genuine and were absolutely amazing musicians. I meant the boybands that would come along decades later would use the formula to try to recapture the chemistry that the Beatles naturally had. Record companies try to churn out bands in the Beatles' image. And, financially if not musically, they seem to be pretty successful at doing it. At least the mob of teenage girls thronging the stage is reminiscent of the Beatles' adoring fans.

Isn't that how it always is? New Van Halen wasn't as good as Old Van Halen either. Boston too. I think the only time there was an improvement was with Journey.

I liked Journey better before Steve Perry. He was talented but kind of sappy in my opinion. Green anyway though.

Do we need one more person to say it? ORIGINAL! I liked the Artimus Pyle too, the one that they all turned against after the plane crash.
