Racism is actually a cultural concept that people made up to promote the idea that one group of people it better than the other. there is actually no biological evidence of a difference in race. skin color is purely a adaptation to one's surroundings over time. one example of why racism is "not real" so to speak is that you can find more biological similarities in a person from Africa to a person in the US than you could find between two people from the US. So to answer your question people are racist because they are uneducated and holding onto outdated concepts. ;)
Because they think they're better then others. Sometimes, it has to do with the parents or grandparents who taught them because they grew up in a world where racism was ok. To anyone who is racist, I think they are low life people who have nothing better to do with their life besides hate people for their color
power is the answer.. and btw 4 ppl who think whites are only racist lol and iknow theres alot of u.. black ppl are racist.. ): ive been racially targeted many many times and they failed... loooooooooool
Because they don't know any better. This is something that is taught, we are not born with hate in our hearts, it taught to us as young children. Hopefully in time these people will educate themselves to learn we are all the same.
They were brought up to be racist. If they're surrounded by people saying 'blacks are blah blah blah' then that's what they're going to say when they grow up. It's a learned habit, one that people rarely grow out of.
Racism is a form of ignorance. But, ironically, it's a form of ignorance that must be learned. As Bubblious^^ observes, young kids don't discriminate. They may notice certain kids have different color skin, just as certain kids have different color hair or eyes but they're not bothered by the difference. They only see another kid that they want to play with. They don't learn to be prejudiced and hateful unless it is drilled into them by parents and peers.

People don't trust others who aren't like themselves. Prejudice is not only racial. It can be directed toward any person or minority group who doesn't fit the definition of what you personally find acceptable. It may be directed at an overweight person or a religious minority or who ever. One kind isn't any better or worse than the other.
Because they are ignorant and stupid, and have not been educated very well. I don't think that it is always their fault, many times it is their parents fault, and when you try to teach them, they are willing to learn.
i always say,you are really racist if you refuse to be rescued by a black fire fighter, who is offering his/her life for one.if we are talking black/white here,i have been predjudisted by black.more than once.i didn't invite that!once i walked into a black beauy shop and was asked to leave.they didn't have time.well, soon they were out of business.
