I have some real old pictures, also have some very old dishes that just say Japan on the bottom why ?

Dishes do not say made in Japan just says Japan on them why ??

Your old pictures and dishes may have the Japan mark on the bottom as the signature of the designer who made them. Also, the Japan mark could indicate where the designer got his or her inspiration from, when he was making the items.
