Do you think it's OK for someone of a race/religion to use derogatory words of their particular race/religion?

Report as

I think so as long as they aren't offended when people refer to them as that term (given the person is not trying to be offensive).

It doesn't matter what you say, I can guarantee that someone, somewhere will be offended. That being said, no, I do not think someone should insult any race or religion, whether they are a member or not.

This is the USA, not Putin's Russia or Assad's Syria. My First Amendment rights guarantee my freedom of speech without the caveat that my words adhere to your standards. That is why it is called "free speech". That being said, being rude is never a nice thing, but I defend my right to choose my own words.

whoah whoah whoah slow down, I don't believe I gave my 'standards' I simply posed a question holy crap!!! I just asked for your personal OPINION, not whether your rights should be quelled! YAHHHH, a simple "I think it's rude" would have done just fine!

Joanie has a point. It gets to be a very slippery slope when being PC becomes a political statement as it has been lately. That is exactly how governments get power by using propaganda like this saying things like Sarah Palin caused the shooting of Gaby Gifford because of how she talks about targeting different politicians and their campaigns. Hitler used these tactics of silencing speech as all dictatorships do when first gaining power. Our first amendment is number one for a good reason.

whoah whoah whoah whoah, I never said she didn't have a point, and what the hell are you talking about propaganda like this? I FREAKING ASKED A QUESTION!!!! I DIDN'T EVEN GIVE AN OPINION!!! HOLY COW, talk about trying your hardest to beat a horse that wasn't even there!!! You and Joanie need to relax, take off the armor, lay down your sword, because THERE IS NO BATTLE HERE lol, calm down everybody holy cow

Excuse me. Back to that free speech thing. You asked for opinions and you got them. We do not have to answer in a way that is acceptable to you. We merely have to follow Ask guidelines. Maybe I don't like your capital letters and your whoa, whoa, whoa, but you have the constitutional right to say it.

I did ask for opinions and I did get them however you misinterpreted my question and I am simply clarifying to you what I meant by the question. When I say, do you think It's OK, I mean, do you personally, in your opinion think it's morally objectionable or not. This has nothing to do with what's acceptable to me or not damnit I just have to clarify myself to you because you are obviously on a whole different tangent due to my wording. How the hell do you argue with someone who had nothing to argue about!? What is this whole chip on your shoulder with free speech and rights? Sounds like you are inserting a topic near and dear to you in something completely unrelated. I mean no offense when I say this but you come off really angry for no reason.

As long as they allow ANYONE to use those terms no matter what the circumstances are

Maybe this question is phrased wrong, I'm getting a lot of people up in arms about the constitution and that is not the point of the question. When I say, do you think It's OK, I mean, do you personally, in your opinion think it's morally objectionable or not.

Yes I believe it's ok, names are names and I don't see any harm coming from people using them
