Sure you can use 'Te Amo' for the wimpy I love you.

Write this and see what your teacher says " !Mi amor por ti es un fuego que quema con la fuerce de un mil sols! Sin tu toca mi alma perde la gana a vivir!"

(translation: My love for you is a fire that burns with the force of a thousand suns, without your touch my soul loses all desire to live!" )

Te amo is Spanish for "I love you." In the future, you could go to www.dictionary.com. At the top there are several headings and 1 is marked "Translator." You can translate pretty much anything into quite a few different languages. It will also allow you to translate from a foreign language back into English.
