Do you believe in the Japanese tradition for a conquered samurai who can't bear the shame to take his own life and get his head cut off?

Do you think this is a good death? An honorable death? A proud death? Give me YOUR opinions.

It seems senseless, brave, but senseless. It is motivating though.

Actually they stabbed themselves in the gut. Sometimes they wrote poems as they bled to death. And it's probably one of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time...

Yes I know. The stick a sword through their abdomen but while they do that, a samurai warrior will cut their head off after about 10 second's after the sword in the gut. All the documentaries I have seen show that. I havent heard of the poem thing though.

Seems a bit drastic to me ...instead of taking your life why not do something to "win" your honor back .

I don't think it's practical to apply seppuku to modern life, if that's what you're asking.

No, I was just wondering who all on ask believes in it.

What do you mean "believe in it"? Do I believe it happened? Yes. Do I believe it should still happen? No.

I get what your saying and your talking about seppuku. The thing is that failure leads to knowledge and it would be a waste of a failure to end it immediately after. That being said maybe if you look at this from a spartan point of view and with a profound sense of helping thy betters it could be justified. I would not because I cannot be conquered, only given wisdom, a win or death.
