What is something I can do for my friends?

I'm really good friends with these two girls, one is 19 and the other is only 13! they're father had just passed away yesterday due to cancer. I feel extremely bad considering they're mother doesn't even care about them, she left and hasn't seen them in over a year! I'm attending the funeral, and writing a speech to read it to everyone. my friends mean a lot to me, and I don't know what I could do for them both to make them less depressed. I understand they'll still be upset, but I wanna do something that will take their minds off of it. I'll pay money, I'll do anything! I just really wanna do something for them! any suggestions?

I lost my father, and my mother in law within a month of each other. And the one thing I found very annoying, that a lot of people did, was say I know how you feel. Please do not say this to your friends. No-one knows how another feels when they lose a parent.
My suggestion, is just let them both know, you care about them, and will be by their side no matter what. And that if they need anything to let you know, you will help them no matter what. This costs you no money, and it's one of the greatest gifts one friend can give to another.
Good luck to you, and your friends. You sound like a very sweet girl. Keep it up! <3

You already doing something, because caring about your friends and asking to do anything for them is something and something great.
I suggest you write good and sweet words about their father in your speech, be with them even after the funeral and if you can sleep at there house this day..do it, they need somebody to be with them and makes them feel comfortable not just physically but also mentally.
Offer any thing you can do to them and tell them cancer is a painful thing, now he is resting happy.

Dont say 'im sorry for you' or 'sorry for your loss' or 'poor things'. It makes them feel worse. Smother them with hugs
