The cost of the chain will be proportional to its weight. Gold costs over $1600 an ounce after all.
If you want to get an idea of the chain's gold content value:
Multiply the weight by 0.583 (that accounts for the 14K purity)
Divide the number of grams by 31.1 (there are 31.1 grams in a troy ounce)
Then multiply by the cost of gold per ounce (you can get a quote at www.kitco.com)

So you have tell them how much you want it to weigh? I don't understand. All I want is my name Jose on there. My grandmother lives out there and she says that the price of gold is going up and there like 300$ I just find that hard to believe.
