There is a product made by Chapman called what else,Ant Killer it contains borax in a syrup type liquid, just place a few drops where the ants travel and they will take it back to the nest and kill the whole thing.Any hardware store carries it.

I have heard of spraying rubbing alcohol and/or vinegar, natural killers...instead of pesticides. Also, spray around windows and doors where you think they may be getting in. Outside: sprinkly baby powder around, I've heard it's like glass to ants.

What you use depends on if you have small children or pets in the house. If you have neither, combine a mixture of half Borax (found in the laundry aisle at any store), and half regular sugar in a disposable container with a lid (so you can save the leftover.) Sprinkle a line of this dry mixture along windowsills, base of walls, and anywhere you see a lot of ants. The ants are attracted to the sugar, and take it home to the nest. Since the sugar is now tainted with the Borax, it is poisonous to them. It kills the entire nest quickly, including the queen. It worked beautifully for me, and within 24 hours my kitchen was ant-free! IMPORTANT: You can't use this method if you have small kids or pets because they, too, will be attracted to the sugar. If they ingest the mixture, they could become very sick. Good luck to you.
