Layed off, or cutting back on expenses.

you don't want to lie outright. many companies do background checks. you might want to say laid-off or something just as mild.

Thanks restorer! I had a friend who filled out 100 job applications after he had been fired from his last job. He took a class on filling out applications. They told him to put for "Reason for leaving last employer" ......"Will explain".

He got ZERO calls for interviews. After he put "Laid off" like I told him to do he started getting phone calls....Turns out he got fired because the manager hated him because he was smarter than the manager. The supervisor told me that my friend was the best employee he ever had in his 15 years of working at that company.

Saying you were fired is not very good and a major turn off for the employees. The better way to say this would be that you left the job yourself or company was cutting down on its employees.
