Jesus set the example for a lot of different things. Concerning baptism: He was not baptized at birth, but when he was 30 years old. Why? Because we should, according to many Bible texts like Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 2:14,22,38,41, first 'hear the word', 'embrace the word heartily', and after 'repenting' we must proceed to water baptism. When we get baptised we must make a decision to dedicate our lives to God. In order to make such a decision, we must have sufficient age to hear, believe and make the decision. Can a baby do any of these?
Its because baptising allows jesus to come into you, its like cleansing your soul, you can be baptized at any age but you arent a complete christian or hebrew until you are baptized, its definently not for money, and cathlics encourage being baptized as a young child
Well the when you baptize and infant they aren't making the decision it's there parents because when the baby is older what if he didnt want to be baptized? But he already is so its better to get baptized when YOU are making the decision! :) hope this helped!
well I think that, a child should wait until he/she is old enough to know what's going on... Because if he/she doesn't, the child could be "baptized" and then grow up to be a devil child. That's what I think.
I see , looking at your question history you've asked this exact question 3 TIMES.... Over a 3 month period.Looking through the answers , I also answered it in detail.. So did a lot of community members. And they were concise , thorough, accurate, explanations. I would look through the answers you have already received ....it appears """you like wasting the community's time for """"kicks"""
8 years old is the age of accountability. Then they are old enough to know right from wrong and Can decide to take upon themselves the name of Christ. Before that they are already pure and innocent. Sometimes they don't act like it but they are not accountable before the Lord. Therefore if a child dies before the age of 8 they are saved. They don't need baptizing at birth.
the Catholic made this up. no where in the Bible does it say baptism for babies. there's no reason. how could you purify someone that's already pure? and to make matters worse, they sprinkle water they claim is holy. your not suppose to sprinkle to Baptise, you have to be submerged under water.
I agree with the spang. You seem to have a "bone" to pick about Catholicism, I looked at your questions to, this is the third time you've asked. also on a different note, youve picked a "bone" on the definition of the church, which spang attempted to straighten you out on. I suggest you read more and ask less. the same way I suggest , when you leap from an airplane, I "suggest" you pull the rip cord :)
