How do you know when a watermelon is ready to pick?

One way to know when a watermelon is ripe and needs to be picked is you will notice that the green tendrils on the watermelon will start to turn yellow and brown. The water melon will also make a hollow sound when thumped. Watermelon normally takes between 75 to 80 days to after it has been planted for it to grow. The way I tell is the stem has little hairs on it next to the melon. If they are standing straight out it green if the hairs are laying flat or curled its ripe.
