How do you get your toilet to stop making the shower too hot when you don't even flush it?

Every 20 seconds my toilet makes a noise and the shower turns REALLY hot. It is so annoying I have to step away from the water when it does that. It lasts like 5 seconds each time it turns hot. How do you get it to stop doing this?

It sounds as though your toilet is allowing the water to leak down, and is refilling itself. Check the rubber stopper in the toilet tank and try to see where its losing water. The black rubber part attached to the handle mechanism may not be covering the opening completely, allowing water to leak out, or the chain attached to it may be too short & need lengthening. Correcting this should also save on your water bill too!! : )

This may mean your toilet is constantly running and needs repaired. Call a plumber right away, a running toilet can cost you money from all the water going down the drain.

If you cant fix the toilet parts yourself, have the plumber Also put a scald preventing valve in the shower.

Plumber, newer homes have a system in place for that problem, not sure technically what that is but it's working here.
